AEM Cold Air Intake Intakes/Filters

AEM Cold Air Intake Intakes/Filters

DESCRIPTION

The new AEM Cold Air Induction system generates more horsepower and torque than all other air intake devices.

A cold air intake system relocates the filter outside of the engine compartment to deliver cool air inlet temperatures. Cooler air carries more oxygen, which translates into a more intense explosion in the combustion chamber to create more horsepower and torque. But that's only part of the power equation. Tuning the inlet pipe in length and diameter to match the engine's resonance helps move more air to the cylinders (think of your engine as a big air pump), and this tuning allows us to deliver large power gains. We also monitor fuel trim correction factors and all OBDII sensors during product development to eliminate leaning the engine out and/or throwing a check engine light.

Strength:

Nice power

Weakness:

No way to replace the filter.

The unit was installed by the dealer on my new Scion. After five years of no service by the dealer (the mileage has been decreasing) I checked the filter to find that it is disintegrating. I can see daylight through the filter but can not replace it. I will have to pay another 300-400 dollars for the whole assembly. It's not worth it.

Amazing sound, Noticeable power gain, Great fit

Weakness:

None

It feels like I'm driving a new car! I see that people are getting better gas mileage, but I'm sure mine will drop from gunning it everywhere. I am shocked at how amazing it sounds! Was not expecting that. I floor it often just to hear the intake work. Installation was a pain because I did not remove the bumper or tire. Removing the resonator in particular was not enjoyable. Other than that, this has been $240 well spent. Highly recommended.

Strength:

Increased performance, high powered engine noise (a positive for those that like that I suppose).

Weakness:

AEM filter rubber will crack considerably with time. Possibility of hydrolocking increases considerably over stock components - DO NOT GET AN AUTOMATED UNDERCARRIAGE WASH WITHOUT PROTECTING FILTER FIRST. Without going into the details, hydrolocking will completely destroy your engine.

This came pre installed on my Mitsu Eclipse when I first purchased it 4 years ago. I didn't think much of it until I reinstalled the stock mitsubishi intake. I lossed a considerable amount of power, though my engine compartment was quieter. I cleaned by AEM filter andreinstalled the CAI. It performs better than before after I cleaned it.

Looks great. Sounds Awesome. Great all around power.

Weakness:

Hydrolocking is a chance but can be fixed with a bypass valve.

This AEM intake is awesome. Looks great and sounds cool. When my car is idling it has a nice humming sounds coming from the motor. Around 4000rmp it gets nice and loud. Acceleration improved a bit also.
Intake also changed my exhaust sound. It gave my exhaust a deeper sound when floored. Worth the money. But if you have a civic SI go with AEMs V2 intake, pricer but its a power house.

Change in HP
Better car performance

I bought one for my Mitsubishi Lancer. No regrets, car works well -- even better.
Noticeable change in hp as any one here have mentioned. I could also attest to that.
I've been using it for merely a year now and it's still doing good even for long rides.
Worth all the penny!

Strength:

Sounds awesome, looks great (when the hood is up), performs great, and will pay for itself and then some.

Weakness:

Like any CAI there's a risk of hydrolock, but I haven't had to go through that yet.

The installation was hampered a little by the directions, which were very descriptive but had confusing pictures. It runs great, sounds awesome, and has gained me ~7mpg (which, at the rate I drive, will pay for the CAI in about a year and a half). After installation, my car has been much more responsive, especially past 3.5k rpms. When returning home during a storm, the car began to lose some power (I suspect because of water vapor on the MAF sensor), but it never coughed or died.

work perfectly for my car and when i check it after having a long drive most of the time it is still good to go.

This product is one of the best one I bought for my Toyota car. The cold air intake of my car had gave me a big trouble but not after i purchase AEM Cold Air Intake.I've been using this for almost 2 years and it is still working well and made me satisfied buying it. Unlike the other I bought, after driving for about 5000kms I would have to check it but instead of cleaning and putting oil , I'll have to buy a new one 'coz its damage. At least now I know what to get when this one will be broken.

Installation guide was a tad weak, but I worked through it.

The AEM cold air intake was absolutely amazing after I installed it into my 2002 Honda Prelude SH. It made the car sound like a freakin Harley, and definitely added a noticeable change to the HP and pickup. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Strength:

Performance-tuned, so one knows he'll get what most of us wants: Optimized fuel consumption and more horsepower regardless of drive condition.

Weakness:

Had to shell out a few bucks more for installation.

Had difficulty finding the best deal for a cold air intake

Makes a roaring sound when operating

You have probably heard of how the V70 is decent on cross-country drives. It provides a comfortable ride, with its leather seats and all. The 300bhp power output of my V70's T5 engine, however, shows a drop when I take to the trails.

I consulted a mechanic and was told that the V70's air intake could be the culprit. For a get-go, he said, the intake is dependent on the weather. When driving at a higher altitude, the air fouls up the burn material in the Volvo engine, he explained.

With his diagnostics I looked air intake in the Net and ended up with folk at a Volvo dealer called Swedish Parts Shop. I remember them explaining to me some numbers of what a particular brand can do to my Volvo. I picked up AEM because he was at most convincing at it.

Give or take a few exaggerations, the AEM cold air intake did the trick. The V70 performed on the trail like it did in the streets, and more. I noticed long intervals between gas stops, which I found out later on, was due to the up to 40mpg fuel economy of the AEM air intake.
