Review 1 of 36

Price Paid:  $460.00 from Discount Tire

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 Toyo Proxes T1S

Summary:
Soft sidewall, sloppy handling, poor heat resistance. This tire handles very poorly, with sidewall rolling and leaning in tight turns. Does not inspire confidence. Thre treadwear rating of 280 is clearly wrong, since they are 80% worn after only 12,000 miles. The temperature rating is wrong--they are noticeably hot to the touch after normal road driving on a cool day.

This is a junk tire that looks fancy. Don't believe the reviews planted all over the web. Simply buy them and you can return them for a full refund within 500 miles--it's a guarantee from Toyo if you buy through an authorized dealer. You'll see what slop they are, and bring them back for a full refund.

Strengths:
Looks good. That's about it.

Weaknesses:
Soft, sloppy sidewalls. Sloppy handling in tight turns. Noisy as a jet engine at 60 mph. Poor wear life.

Similar Products Used:
Michelin Exalto PE2 (excellent)

Review 2 of 36

Price Paid:  $200.00 from Blaine Quality Autom

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 Ford Mustang Cobra

Summary:
Purchased these tires after a blow-out on the original Goodyear tires. Waited +6 weeks for delivery while my car was down! The tires performed well, especially with cornering, but soon after installation developed a steering wheel shake around 50 MPH. Moved the tires around to try to eliminate the shake, but after re-checking the balance, found that the ground-force balancer couldn't balance them; the tires were bad. The dealer replaced all 4-tires, and after another lengthy wait for delivery, I had the same problem with the replacements! I received the replacements in the middle of Winter in Minnesota, and wasn't able to test drive until April. At that time the Toyo Rep informed the dealer that the tires were "out of warranty"!
Replaced the TOYOs with Dunlop SP9000 tires & I am very pleased with the ride of these tires. I still have a mild wheel shake around 50 MPH, which leads me to believe that the dealer's balance machine could be off, but the ride is MUCH better.
I will NEVER purchase TOYO tires again.

Strengths:
Cornering, traction, looks.

Weaknesses:
Delivery wait time. Quality. Customer service. Warranty coverage. Steering wheel shake.

Dunlop SP9000

Review 3 of 36

Price Paid:  $131.00 from Machiii.net

Year / Model Reviewed:
1996 Civic EX 5sp

Summary:
My civic has 16" Rotas, ground control coilovers and KYB AGX's. I have an aggressive driving style normally and have driven with these tires on dry/wet pavement and a little snow. These tires grip like no other in the dry with absolutely no tire squeal at the limit. The sidewalls are not stiff enough to offer a harsh ride, but definetly hold the car in the turns. Steering response is excellent. These tires combined with my suspension make my car very stable and confident in sharp turns. Wet weather traction is unreal. Though there is no audible warning as the tires lose grip at the limit, you can definetly feel it before the tires get loose. They kick up alot of debris from the road even at slow speeds because they are so sticky. The are also a little noisy but you quickly get used to it. I would definetly recommend these tires to anyone who drives aggressively and needs the grip. Grandma on the other hand would probably benefit more from a longer lasting tire.

Strengths:
Extremely grippy on dry pavement. Unreal wet weather traction. Awesome tire for fast drivers...

Weaknesses:
Kick up alot of road debris. A little noisy.

Price Paid:  $175.00 from online retailer

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 toyo proxes t1-s

Summary:
A great tire. Ultra low profile on the side wall looks sleek and is tapered well. Is NOT ugly like other tires sidewalls. A great performer!! There are a few better tires out there for traction but they cost more, wear faster and have worse wet-weather performance. 255-40-17

Pirelli P-Zero Assymetrico - $$$, sticky!! wear quick also.... Yokohama AVS sport.... the main competition Michelin Pilot Sport NOT sticky, squaek easily, expensive, excellent waer thought!

Price Paid:  $180.00 from local shop

Year / Model Reviewed:
00 civic ex

Summary:
Very good tire for street racers/ daily drivers. wet weater is not problem. even in the rainy weater of Louisiana. These tires are great in every condition. The Falkens i ran before this are no comparison.

Strengths:
205-35-18s are what i have and they are great. the ride is not as bad as people told me it would be. I would definetly buy these again. They handle well in turns and are great for the 1320 on the street or track.

Weaknesses:
The only complaint i have is the price. but like they say "If u wanna play u gotta pay"
