treadwear

Weakness:

rain, cornering grip, Traction, 1/4 mile time

These tires were are worst "so called" performance tires I have ever owned! I wanted a balance between performance and tire wear, I got the good tire wear but Honestly, "These are the worst so called performance tires I have ever owned !!!". In the lightest rain these tires are scary and just plain dangerous! The cornering grip is unimpressive. They don't like to be pushed to the easy to reach limit, getting squeaky, and loose around corners. I took the car to the drag strip and couldn't "hook up".I lost a full 1+ second on my 1/4 mile time. I will replace these tires before they reach 8,000 miles.I've gotten better performance out of cheap all-season tires. "I Recommend This Tire To Know-one! -- this means you"

Strength:

Good wear, Decent Price

Weakness:

Horrible wet weather performance

A good value for the price. They strike a good compromise between performance and tread life. These aren't the stickiest tires around, but they last a long time for a high speed tire. Performance is pretty good and breakaway is progressive, so you know how hard you can push.

Wet weather performance is terrible. Lots of hydroplaning and slipping.

Strength:

Excellent grip, good wear

Weakness:

Wet weather traction/hydroplaning

These BFGoodrich's are the first I've owned and came as OEM from Ford.

I'm actually very surprised at the level of grip these tires generate, and have had no problems with them slipping at all. In the dry, they're great but leave a lot to be desired in a serious downpour. Since they're 245's they hydroplane severely at highway speeds.

I've heard from several other Cobra owners that these tires only last for around 10000 miles, but my car already has 5000 mostly highway and backroad miles and my tires look almost new!

Grip hard even in wet weather, wear pretty slow for a ZR tire
Very predictable and take alot to get them to slide in turns

Weakness:

very satisfied with this tire.

Great tire. Wears pretty slow. takes a beating in the turns.
Doesnt squell much at all and grips hard. I used these temporaily
up front for drag racing on my Sentra SE-R and they got me 2.20
60 fts with an open diff.

Strength:

Very predictable handling. Corners well even in rain. Quite, smooth ride. Have lasted 28,000 miles - very good for a 17" tire.

Weakness:

The only weakness the tire has (and it's a big one): Straight-line traction.

Overall, I've been very pleased with this tire. They were the stock rubber supplied by Ford on their 17" wheels in 1998.

I was especially glad to see them last for 28,000 miles, which for a 245/45/17 tire, I think is very good. All 4 tires have worn evenly, despite being rotated only 3 or 4 times.

The tires handle very predictably. I can't ever remember them slipping around a curve - even in rain. As far as snow goes - forget about it. An absolute nightmare. However, this is due in large part to the nature of the car (rear drive, etc).

The tires are pretty quiet and have an excellent ride. Most passengers are surprised by the quality of the ride.

As far as straight ahead grip, I think they're lacking a bit. It's tough for me to say for sure though, b/c this is the first rear-wheel drive car I've owned with this kind of power. I do know getting solid grip leaving in a hurry is difficult in both 1st and 2nd. Letting the air out in the back tires to about 28psi helped tremendously, and didn't seem to wear the tires too much more than usual. If it weren't for this lack of stickiness, I'd have given the tires perfect 5's.

Overall, I think this is an excellent tire. I think I'll try something new next time around to see if I can get something that will "stick" a bit better, but I may be back for another set of these in a couple years...

Strength:

GOOD TRACTION, VERY PREDICTABLE IN TURNS, BREAKS LOOSE VERY SLOWLY IF AT ALL. PLENTY OF GRIP TO RECOVER FROM 4 WHEEL DRIFTS ON TURNS. GOOD STRAIGHT LINE TRACTION EVEN W/ EXTREMELY TIGHT SUSPENTION.

Weakness:

SEEMS THAT THE 245-45-ZR17 TREAD WITH IS NOT AS WIDE AS SOME OTHER TIERS I HAD - WHICH I KIND OF BAZAR, I COULD OF WENT WITH THE 255.

GOT THEM FROM DISCOUNT TIRES FOR GOT THE PRICE MABE LIKE $170 SOMETHING A PIECE
