Summary:
Michelin Pilots...Decent traction, changed them at every oil change it seemed. EXPENSIVE Bought a set of Hankook/Hancock Ventus(Korean Tire) Won a Red Dot Engineering Excellence award for design. Easily the best set of tires I've ever owned. Dirt Cheap and handled 10X better than anything I've owned. Wet traction is absolutely unbelievable. Dry traction is ferocious. Virtually zero sidewall flex. truly cant say enough about these tires, so why do I have a brand new set of Pirelli's?? Unfortunately, moved to Florida and took a flat. Stereo design means I dont have a spare, time commitments meant I had it towed to the nearest chain I could find to make a 2 pm meeting. Meineke didnt sell Hankook, so I bought a set of 4 Sumitomo's and buzzed off to my meeting. 3 failures later in less than 3 months, Sidewall failures not puntures, Meineke replaced them with the Pirellis. Have had them for a week now. To Date Impressions: Wet weather, better than average, better than the Pilots, far less than the Ventus in the wet. Sumo's arent even in the ballpark due to vague feel and tendency to chase on slight moisture. Dry Weather, slightly better than the Pilots, less sidewall flex than Pilots, More sidewall flex than Ventus. Ventus tires in slide or 4 wheel drift give constant feedback and linear traction. Michelins were slippery in drifts. Pirellis seem to bias towards oversteer slightly yet give enough confidence to push towards the limits, feedback trails off and tends toward vague at full slide. Sumitomo's were vague from beginning to end in a slide but at least were consistent unlike the Pilots. Of all the tires, the only reason I liked Sumitomo's were because you can take them to three SCCA track days and spend all three days in drifts/slides and still have 10000 miles left in them. Michelins were overpriced and under delivered. Pirelli's seem like a dream compared to the Sumo's recently removed yet from everything I read in the other reviews will tend to go to hell after 10k miles. We'll see. Bottom line is that the next set WILL again be the Ventus tires and I am kicking myself for being impatient and not having had the car towed to a place that sells the darned things. Steven T. run over any normal chuck hole - you will have a blow out. Speed does not matter - I had two blow out at under 20 mph.

Summary:
NOISY!! The minute I put these tires on, I noticed the noise. Not bad at first, by now that I have over 15000 miles on them, they are driving me crazy. At first I thought the wheels ball bearings were bad! Thats how bad the noise and road feel is. The only reason I liked them from the begining was their look- they look aggressive but that is it! The road noise and feel are horrible especially on 17 inch wheels. Don't get these! I will be looking into the Michelins even the tires still have a good amount of tread - shamefull!!

NOISE, road feel makes you think something is wrong with the car!

These tires are very, very NOISY... They were very decent in the beginning, but after 10000 kilometers the noise level can't be handled, and traction in wet is gone (very dangerous)... Tires still have a lot of a thread, but I am looking forward to replace them... Will try Michelins. I can NOT recommend these tires at ANY price...

Summary:
I was excited to be getting rid of the standard tires that came with my car and harness something more aggressive in the Pirelli's. Instantly I was pleased with my choice, the car was phenominal in the rain and with cornering and steering response. The tires performed superb under stress and the car always handled predictibly. Sadly, we can't live in the past and the tires aged....and not well. While maintaining it's sticky attributes in dry conditions, rain suddenly has become a problem. With approximately 18,000 miles on the tire, I hadn't thought that replacing them would be a concern. As the tread depletes, along with the rain issue, the road noise became deafening. When I took off my snow tires, I looked forward to the quiet ride of my summer tires. Silly me...my road tires were louder. For the amount of money...the mileage was vile and I expect the road noise to be at a minimum.

Strengths:
Corning and steering response.

Weaknesses:
Tread wear...and the road noise that will test your car stereo to drown out.
