Strength:

Long life
Good traction
Good snow performance

Weakness:

None do far

This is the longest lasting tire I have ever seen.
I bought a set of 4 for my Volkswagen Passat GLX 4 Motion in summer 2006 and used America's Tire free rotation service every 10k miles or so. As of April 2016, I have 75k miles on them and the tread wear has just moved from green to yellow. I drove up to Lake Tahoe last month and the tires performed very well in snow. I guess I will be able to use them for another year or two. I think the secret is keeping the car in a garage - exposure to sun light causes damage to tires over time.

smooth ride

Weakness:

fell apart

After a couple of years, had an unexpected flat. (Dealer wouldn't cover it with purchased tire warranty.) Other front tire showed similar damage. Replaced both.
Today, noticed a crack b/n sidewall & tread on the other two. 75000 miles and good tread left.
Would NOT recommend buying these. IF you already have them, KEEP an eye on them.

Great ride and handling. Have over 60,000 miles on them and they have worn evenly and still have 3/32 of tread.

Weakness:

They dry rotted very early on. Van does stay out in the Florida sun. Did not seem to hurt tire.

Great tires, would buy them again.

general failure to meet expectations

These tires are horrible. They are rated at 30,000 miles but at 15,386 they are worn out. I called Michelin to file a claim; they explained it was my car!

The Hyundai explained that most people are replacing the tires within one year.

There are many better choices out there than Michelin. I recommend Sumitomo tire or similar Goodyear Tire.

Strength:

None.

Weakness:

Weak sidewalls that will give out after less than 20k miles of wear.

Michelin MXV4 Plus XSE tires came new when I purchased my vehicle and in 1 year and less than 20k miles of wear all four tires have had to be replaced due to side wall failures. Currently no recall on these tires, but they certainly aren't worth their high end price. Avoid at all cost.

Recieved from the factory with my new 2007 Hyundai Azera Limited, Michelin MXV4 Plus P235/55R17. At 15,757 miles, the tires have "inner cupping" issues per the Hyundai dealership! This isn't a good situation for such a high-end ($125+) tire!

Strength:

Michelin's stock price is up this year.

Weakness:

Rain/Snow and mostly customer service

I've had Michelin Tires on most of my Mercedes automobiles and the Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus' have been by far the worst tire I have ever paid for. Not only are these direct OEM replacements for a set that lasted little over 10,000 miles, this set has lasted less than 5,100 miles. I would not be so vocal in my anger, wxept that Michelin's customer service is making this out to be "my" fault that the tires have worn down in less than 5,100 miles. The car is driven in Palm Springs, California on surface roads when I am in town for the winter. Otherwise the car-and tires-rest in a climate controlled and carpeted garage. The tires were purchased in 8/05 and are not only seperating visably, but they are worn EVENLY on all four tires. Four other cars in the garage, with the same wear, age, and storage conditions, albeit Pirelli P4000's, show little if any wear, no hazing, unusual treadwear, etc. My telephone calls with Michelin's customer service make my blood boil. "Dave" said that the problem is that the "H" is not the right rating for my car, and is very possibly the reason for the tread wear. "Dave" say's that the "V" rated tires are what my car calls for. Mercedes says the "H" rated tires are not only OEM factory, but also the tires that was engineered for that body style. There is "NO WARRANTY" on tread wear. Yet Michelin has agreed to pay 75% of the cost in replacing the tires...."IF" I purchase the new Primacy MXV4. Personally Michelin should pay 100% even if I went to Pirelli's!

Strength:

slow tyre wear due to harder compound. Looks good even when used for a couple of years .

Weakness:

Piss poor grip , generate alot of squeeking on wet road. Expensive , poor breaking performance.
The tyre compound of this product gets "hard" really fast , withing a year the rubber is already much harder than when purchesed giving it even less grip .

They squeek and squeel at every opportunity ! grip on wet road surfaces is terrible , the car slides from side to side.
I have been told that , in order for the tyres to save energy ( petrol ) they use a harder compound , thus resulting in less grip. I have used Bridgestones Potenza and Turanza and Yokohama and they are both better in the performance and breaking area. In an emergency breaking situation , it was highly embarassing !! the tyres squeeled from 60 kmph to 0.. Horrible !!

Model Reviewed: VW Eurovan

Strength:

Good in snow

Weakness:

Treadwear, price

Reading the rest of the reviews, I wonder if everyone's talking about the same tire. One correlation may be vehicle weight. These tires came as original equipment on my '03 VW Eurovan, and my main beef is treadwear. With under 24,000 miles on the van, there is only 20-25% of the tread left, and I try to drive conservatively (waaay too slow, according to my wife). Handling has seemed acceptable, although the rapidly approaching replacement tires (not Energy MXV4's) will be the acid test. They've been surprisingly good in snow, although the weight of the vehicle (quite heavy) might have something to do with that. No road noise problems, and handling in the rain seems all right. They're very expensive to replace. I can't recommend these tires due to the treadwear problem, but on a lighter car they may do fine.
