everything about it. period.

Weakness:

the fact that it's discontinued, and inexperienced users may become frustrated with all of the sound shaping features. For those people, I recommend the 9821 or something along that range.

Audiophile heaven. selectable f/r/s or l/m/h active crossovers with selectable slopes, 5 band eq with selectable slope/frequencies, individual attenuation of all 3 channels up to -15 db, 6 channel time correction, 2 line dot matrix display with 2 selectable easy to read fonts, etc. etc. etc.

Strength:

lots of options for eq/crossover settings 60x4 amp time correction I-Personalize looks beautiful motorized face

Weakness:

eq and crossover settings can be tricky, but after playing with it for little it gets easier. I-Personalize also helps.

This unit has it all. You can always count on alpine to deliver the very best head units. This is my third alpine h/u and is by far the best. I upgraded to this from the cda-7893 for the mp3 playback.

Many options, nice look, amazing sound, worth everything dollar I payed..

Weakness:

I had trouble with a CD-R I burned. It had about 150 songs on it. When I went to put it on the last track from the first, it had alot of trouble reading it. Not too big a deal though.

I used to own a Panasonic MP3/WMA CD player, it was decent but didnt have the sound or options I wanted. I invested some money into this little gem and it was well worth it. Oh and let me explain a few of the "Weaknesses" left by other reviews. First of all, the buttons cant fade out b/c they are a clear plastic not white paint type stuff. Second, the screen wont die out or fade out, ive used many alpines and never once had a display problem, lastly, the "No Support" problem.. read the manual.

Features, sound quality. This is a pro grade !

Weakness:

A lot of stuff to learn about it. Might be complicated for those who don't know too much about electronics and sound settings.

This is a great head unit. It has lots of features in sound adjusting like bass focus, built in crossover, time correction( 6 channel), media expander and so on. The graphics are ok, easy to navigate through folders(mp3), though it does not have screen savers like pioneer. But it sounds perfect, totally adjustable sound features, you won't find anything like that in any other kind of head units. The price is high, but it's worth all of that.

looks great, good power for a headunit with 60watts by four, clean sounding, tons of settings so that you can fine tweak your music fantastic sounding compaired to what the other brands got in the price bracket

Weakness:

like all alpines the button lettering wears off. not easy to use if you dont know what your doing no real weaknesses, its great

this headunit has it all. it is loaded with features and has a very nice clean sound to it. i love that fact that it has a built in equlizer and supports mp3 was well as wma formats. compaired to many other headunits on the market, alpine makes some of the best. the sound quality from this headunit blows the sony equilivat (by price) away hands down it is just a fantastic headunit it is worht the high price because of all you get out of this unit

Weakness:

havnt found too many weakness with the unit, so far.

The CDA9815 is by far one of the best deck on the market. Alpine focuses on the features of the deck and not on aesthetics like other brands i.e. sony and pioneer. Customizing I-personalize e is also great feature if you want to play around with your sound settings. IE time correction, digital time correction, 5-Band Parametric EQ and digital crossovers. The unit plays mp3 and wma very nice sq and esy to manuver between folders. The internal is pretty nice alot more then my stock hu with amp, alot cleaner sound.Overall an excellent deck highly recommended.

mp3/wma playback issues - NO SUPPORT messages on occasion

HU sounds great, has tons of great settings and features such as time correction, mp3/wma playback, v-drive amplifier, parametric eq, good remote control, classy looks, etc. I've been using mine for just over a month now and have not had any real problems with it, although on occasion, on an mp3/wma encoded disc that originally plays fine, I sometimes get a 'no support' message on the screen, and then it will playback fine later. I find this odd considering that the disc and/or folder that says no support had previously played with no problems whatsoever. This has happened even on a pristine, freshly burnt cd that had been taken directly from my home cd burner and into the Alpine and left in it, so there are no fingerprints, scratches, etc(Imation brand cdrs). I can't completely blame Alpine's product for this as the mitigating factor has not been isolated, ie, bad discs and/or this particular Alpine model's cdr brand preference. I have never had a problem with these cdr's before even on 2 previous Alpines and a Nakamichi

Just read the Specs!

Weakness:

I just wish that XM could be built into the unit, but that's not Alpine's fault. Other than that, it seems great so far! If anything, too many settings to setup and re-do if you lose power... oh well.

WOW, this thing has everything in a stereo I could hope for, and then some. I mean it has so many features to the point where I don't know what to do with some of them.

I've always used Alpine head units and have liked them. My only gripes with them is they tend to get really hot and the display on the face plates have always crapped out on me. Luckily, I always get
