Review 1 of 1 Summary: this is probably the cheapest detachable face stereo out there, which also makes it about the best value you can find. in the under-$75 price range it gives good power and was a piece of cake to install (took about 15 minutes). has a mute button which most stereos in a much higher price range don't even offer. also loudness, local tuning, and other pluses like default volume setting so you don't get blown away when you turn the thing on are a good call. the controls are mostly intuitive but the rest are easy enough to learn as well.
my car's a piece of dung and i'm getting rid of it soon so i'm glad i put this radio in for the time being since the factory one crapped out. i've gotten good use out of it and will help me get a buyer to look twice when i decide to dump this thing cheep.
the faceplate is all plastic with no electronic controls, it is just a mechanical plate, which has it's drawbacks. the unit can be rigged to still work if you really try hard and looks ugly with the faceplate off but i don't care cuz my car is ugly anyway. the good thing is if you drop the face it won't break, which happened with my old Pioneer when the LCD cracked inside the case, then i had to have it serviced. the faceplate is a little hard to get on until you get used to it, otherwise it's fine.
if you want a cheap detachable face stereo this is the one. Strengths: - incredibly easy to install (at least on my car) with included harness - super great value - decent power (15W x 4) - detachable face - mute button - 15 FM presets/5 AM Weaknesses: - all plastic detachable face is more of a gimmick than a theft deterrent - oversensitive volume button - other buttons take getting used to - no carrying case included for faceplate - prefer having at least 6 preset buttons Similar Products Used: used to have a Pioneer AM/FM cass, don't recall the model
