Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $129.00 from Fry''s

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
I Just hooked it up yesterday and find it to be a nice sounding deck with a lot of features at a blowout price. However, the sound quality of the digital eq leaves a little to be desired. I spent hours fiddling with levels, but went back to analog and found it to be cleaner and present a better soundstage. Oh well, it sounds good like that, so I''m happy. Compared to my last SonyES..... it doesn''t. That Sony had the cleanest sound of anything I''ve heard. Too bad cheap Sony''s don''t sound that way. Back to the Blaukpunt, I really didn''t feel like spending $400 on another car deck, and when I saw this at Fry''s my eyes lit up! at $129.00 it rocks! at the suggested retail of $399.00 There are a lot of better units. Overall, I am satisfied.

Strengths:
Easy to read screen, good sound in analog mode, PRICE.

Weaknesses:
Tuner is just "ok", digital mode sounds "dirty" and is difficult to navigate, however If you ignore the eq section it is easy to use.

Similar Products Used:
Many different brands over many years, Alpine, SonyES, Pioneer, Kenwood etc.. and I sold this stuff for longer than I care to remember.
