Price Paid:  $65.00 from ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2000 ODx653 6.5" triaxial

Summary:
I recently replaced the factory speakers in my 2000 Chevy AstroVan with the Blaupunkt OverDrive 3 way speakers. I put the ODx653s in the doors and Odx463s in the rear pillars. The fit of the 653s were not exact - the newer speakers being slightly smaller than the factory, but a little creativity and they were in without a hitch. The 463s came with a couple of adapter plates, and they fit right in with an adaptor. The speakers are powered by the factory Stereo/CD player and the sound is incredible! These speakers are less efficient than the factory speakers so the volume has to turned higher but I can still get pretty loud sound with the stock unit - a amp is next on my list. Anyway... I found myself punching the "next" button on CD player just to hear how the next song sounded. I frequently got goosebumps from the incredible clarity of these speakers. I hear sound and nuances in the music that I''ve never heard before, and the soundstage is wide and 3D. It seems to extend a foot BEYOND each door, and sound seems to come from infront of the dash and windshield. I have these speakers paired with a small powered sub and it''s like driving my own personal concert hall down the road! I paid just slightly over $125 INCLUDING shipping(!) for these FOUR speakers - WOW, how can I go wrong! I picked up the 653s on ebay for $65+ shipping from getto-price, and the 463s at www.audeo-warehouse.com for $49+ shipping. The highs are crystal clear and the lows are surprisingly accurate and punchy. Symbols sound just like a wooden stick hitting brass, and I can hear the sound of the guitar pick on the strings. I can even hear the resonance of an instument''s body along with the stings, and a singer''s breath - INCREDIBLE! I''m not driving a VAN, I''m driving a CONCERT HALL!! Recently had my 15 year old daughter with me, plopped in one of her new CDs, and cranked the volume. Within seconds of the start of the first song here eye''s widened and she just said "WOW". She didn''t know I had changed the speakers, but I could tell by her reaction she sure could hear the difference - hey, my 47 year old ears could be fooled.... but a 15 year olds???!! I can''t wait to drive these with a decent amp. I expect to become a drooling vegetable, refusing to remove my seatbelt and come in from the garage for supper! Buy Blau and enjoy!
