Review 1 of 2

Price Paid:  $249.00 from Hifi-Klubben, Norway

Strengths:
Adjustable SQ and tweeter level in crossover. 250w peak(!). Good tweeter. Best comp set/quality at price!

Weaknesses:
Sensitive to enclosure for optimal midbass. Upper midrange to "hard"

Summary:
When I first listened to theese, I was astonished by the differense from my old coax 6x9. I should, however, never had listened to the 6,5"Pro, cause then I realized the difference to true HiFi.. Compared I think the upper midrange is much to "hard"-sounding, maybe it's the material of the cone. It's like it's hiding and won't come properly out of the driver, and when you crank it up it'll hurt your ears. Also the upper bass was very absent when I had them in the doors. However, putting them in an enclosure fixed this. I run 'em with 50w/ch and they could use more, maybe 80-100w to get the full potensial out of 'em. Earlier when I used a bigger amp I experienced that they hit bottom, so they work best in sealed enclosures at high volumes.. I've decided to upgrade to Focal Utopia and hopes that will cure my sensitive ears =)

Review 2 of 2

Price Paid:  $335.00 from R. de Vries

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Boston RC520

Strengths:
Power handeling (250W max/130W RMS!!) Looks (really cool) Sound quality is great

Weaknesses:
It's not a cheap set but well worth the money... So euh, no weaknesses!!!

Summary:
I have just finished the install in my car. It's nice that the speakers fit in the factory cutouts. Only my car (a seat ibiza from '91) has got some really crappy install places. When the speaker is installed the front "sees" the rear of the speaker. When the install problems were overcome I put them on a MTX pro 50x4, switched the radio on and began to listen. Sounded like crap. With a little ajustmend and a woofer (Vifa M26-WR29-04) it sounds great. Everything sounds exactly in it's place. There is not a single tone that shouldn't be there. The powerhandling is really great. It can blow your brain out and still keep a verry clear sound. It's really a set for life. Well worth it's price!!
