Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $250.00 from andres audiotronics

Year / Model Reviewed:
2003 clarion APA4203

Strengths:
this amp defantly puts out

Weaknesses:
i dunno like i said im only powering 2 10z in a sealed box n the boom aint 2 booming but sound better then the kenwood kac742 i was usin before it kept over heating so i bought the clarion wich is much better

Summary:
this amp is suppose to kick ass but i was wondering if it can put out enough power to make a 15 inch ma audio sub woofer in a sealed box pound and sound good?. right now im running 2 `10" JL audio subs off it in a sealed box and they sound deadly

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $225.00

Strengths:
The power is OK, but nothing special.

Weaknesses:
The sound quality is nothing compared to an Alpine V12 4 channel. The imaging coming from the 4203 sounds muddled.

Summary:
For $225 this amp isnt bad, but the sound quality is not that great. Once i put in an Alpine MRVF303, everything was better from the sound quality to the imaging. The highs coming from the 4203 sound muddled and the imaging isn't as great as with the Alpine.

Review 4 of 4

Strengths:
Total flexability on picking crossover points, bridging to two channel mode, input sensitivity, and it's low profile fits well under seats.

Weaknesses:
Can't say anything bad about it!

Summary:
At a retail of about $279 - $299, it can't be beat in flexability or sound quality. Alpine V-12 is a close bet, and would probably compare very favorably, but at a higher price point. I chose this based on sound quality & flexability, as well as $VALUE...and it delivers in all catagories! The Kenwood KAC748 is also a very good value, but not as much "guts" (less power).

If you're looking to improve your factory stereo, remember to ALWAYS start out with a good 4-channel amp! Your speakers will love you for it! The most common mistake is to start off by replacing speakers, which should be step #2. If you replace your speakers first, then you still have "not enough power" to power the new speakers, and doing this first sometimes sounds MUCH WORSE!...than your factory speakers!

I've used older 4 channel amps that just can't compare
