Price Paid:  $200.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001 Neodymium 3055''s

Summary:
Great "bang-for-your-buck" comps. After I installed them, upgrading from stock, the first things I noticed were an extremely accurate tweet and a woof that can handle more bass than I thought. After further listening, the tweet can grind on you a bit at high volumes, but accurate sonic recreation is very, very good. Overall I''m pleased and I''d recommend them to anyone on a slightly tighter budget than you might like to be. If you have the cash, spring for a/d/s.

Strengths:
Price, shallow mounting depth, accurate tweet, decent midbass

Weaknesses:
Grating highs

Review 2 of 7

Price Paid:  $169.00 from MMXPress.com

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1999

Summary:
I had originally bought a set of DEI 2065 seperates for my new Honda Civic but the 3065s were the latest and greatest. Both sets offered exceptionally smooth sound with an especially nice tweeter. The silk unit from the 3065 set is surely one of the very best from a $200 component set. Never harsh no matter what it is playing out how loudly it is playing it. I usually sat that if you find most tweeters too brightm, these may be the perfect speakers for you.

Strengths:
Very smooth tweeter. Good power handling. Excellent for the money.

Weaknesses:
Lacks utmost detail found in the very best speaker sets.

Similar Products Used:
DEI 2065, Focal 165K, Alpine DDS, many others

Price Paid:  $125.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 DEI 3055

Summary:
The DEI 3055 are some of the better speakers I have had in my car. I had some infinity speakers in the car before that didn't even compare (much older models).

Lots of impact, can play the midbass very well.

Will handle quite a bit of power. Had them running 80 watts a side, which is a pretty good start. I have yet to cause the speakers any distress with this kind of power.

Tech support is wonderful. Any questions I had were answered by the guys at DEI.

For the money, nothing comes close to these except maybe the CD technology. I have heard some component sets that cost twice as much that don't give you the same type of quality sound. I would recommend these wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a set of high quality seperates.

Tweeter is easy to mount, crossover is easy to hide. Speaker has a very small magnet that makes it easier to fit in many cars. Installation instructions are pretty straight forward.

Strengths:
Speakers sound great. Take lots of power, can get much louder than I would want to get in a car.

Probably one of the best values on the market. Will be putting a 3065 set in my own car (the 3055 is in my wife's car).

Small frame is easy to fit into a tight spot.

Weaknesses:
Feels cheap. The neo magnet is very small and extremely strong, but I have a hard time getting over the fact that I used equate weight with quality.

Wish the crossover had a tweeter attenuation switch.

Review 4 of 7

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1998

Summary:
I was not impressed with these speakers at all.

Strengths:
DEI Studio 3065 2-Way Component Set. Midbass not bad, but I've heard better. Value pricing-but in this case, you get what you pay for.

Weaknesses:
Of all the speaker's I've used over the past the four years, these stand out as the worst. Cheap build quality. One of the midbass speakers bottomed out. No tweeter attenuation on the passive crossover-it needs to be cut back by -3dB, for my ears.

Review 5 of 7

Summary:
I bought the 3065s after hearing a lot of good things about them, and I wasn't dissapointed. I used them in fibreglass kickpanels with approx .15 cu. ft. of airspace in a 95 Eclipse. The sound was smooth and accurate, without any harshness on the high end or unwanted resonance in the midrange. Crossed over at 100Hz (18db/oct), I sent about 200 watts rms to each side off an MTX 2300 amp. It handled the power with ease and probably could have taken more. I highly recomend these to anyone who wants exceptional sound without a hefty price tag.

Strengths:
For the money the best component set out there. Excellent tweeter. Handles way more power than DEI recommends. Easy installation. (I used the 3065 6.5" set)

Weaknesses:
They need power... they're a little less sensitive than most speakers. Dont power them off of a headunit unless it's got a high-power output, or you wont get the volume you want. About 50 watts per chanel or higher works best.
