My name is shawn and I just bought a 5440 eclipse radio and I have to say it is sharp in all it qualties, I like the bold face , and also the volume knobe , and I dident have to pay a ton for it ither.

dumb ass sec codes , what a pain in the ass these things are to try to get back into running order onces they are active.

Summary:
When I first purchased this on eBay, I got really worried when I saw the avg review rating it received on this site. However, after reading the stupidity of all those bad reviews I was comforted. If you have an Eclipse, know where your key CD is!!! You're supposed to be rating the quality of the cd player, not how much of a pain it is to unlock it if you did something stupid. I was sold on Eclipse head units after I bought a used one 7 or 8 years ago. I had owned many Alpines and thought I was sold on them, but the Eclipse just sounded better. It also has higher voltage, lower impedence pre-outs that really help out your amplification setup. I'd recommend this unit to anyone, provided you're capable of keeping your key cd in a safe place.

Strengths:
Fantastic sound quality, build quality. Lack of flashiness.

Weaknesses:
Difficult to find all of the features. You need the manual.

esn security device is the dumbest thing ever invented for a head unit, its a pain in the ass, if your cd gets scrached your cd player wont work anymore and u have to pay to get it fixed and take it out of your car mail it to them to fix it and get it back and put it back in your car, over priced and under powered..i would highly recomend u dont buy this or any other eclipse cd player...basicly its just a p.o.s

Thought it was a great product, have diffuculty with the speaker set up... Nice clean look and easy to use! I just want to say for all of those out there haveing problems the phone number is 1-800-233-2216. They are extremly nice and willing to help any situation!
