Price Paid:
$599.00 Summary: $600 is too much to pay for a constantly-breaking changer. Each time it has failed withing 3-5 months of installation. Each unit was brand new when installed. CDs that got stuck were prerecorded and CD-R.
To add insult to injury, Eclipse takes upwards of 5 months to return the six CDs stuck in the unit. I sent my 2nd unit to Eclipse in August; I have yet to have my CDs returned as of this writing (December).
I cannot in good conscience recommend this product. Strengths: Looks cool, switches discs quickly and effortlessly. Simple interface, no problems interfacing with 4441 headunit. Weaknesses: Horrible reliability. My THIRD model of the 5962 locked up less than a week ago. The CD motor gets stuck somewhere, and it's happened once right after I'd just put in a CD, another time when I switched to another CD after I'd put one in. The unit made a clicking sound in the latter occasion and wouldn't access any CD.
The folks at Audio Connection are aware of the problems Eclipse's 5962 and in-dash tuner/cd changer have. I wasn't and will be switching brands immediately.
For the record, I had a 5961 that performed flawlessly (until it was stolen). Similar Products Used: Faster than the 5961 and looks better, but, again, less reliable.
