Expert Review: 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel Harley-Davidson Edition
Rating: Expert: 4.5 stars

"The only thing longer and more drawn out than the name of this beast is the size of it. At nearly 21 feet long and over 8,000 pounds, this F-250 qualifies every bit as a 'land yacht'."

Price Paid:  $29000.00 from Florida

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 Supercrew 4x4 lariat

Summary:
Traditionally I am not a fan of American made vehicles, in fact this is my first one. I truly think that this is the best full size truck on the market, I shopped them all and came away with the Ford. I have no brand loyalties whatsoever. Ford has made strides with the new model in terms of fit and finish inside and general build quality. Gone are the plastic creaking panels with large gaps. It is extremely evident that Ford spent quite a bit of money on R & D. I remain skeptical of the reliability issues, although I have had no problems to write about. This truck performs flawlessly day in and day out. I have added a K&N aircharger intake and a flowmaster exhaust. I can certainly recommend this to any 5.4 owner, it power increase is well worth the money, as far as increased fuel mileage, I can't say; since I put them on I can't seem to keep my foot off the floor becuase the sound is so nice. Did I mention that I got 11k off the sticker of 40K, bargain hard with Ford, you'll get it...(Toytoa offered me a "great" deal, 3,300 off..wow)

Strengths:
Interior fit and finsh, lux ammenities such as heated seats, memory seats, and dimming mirrors. The engine is strong and revs willingly with plenty of power. Hauls heavy loads with no sweat. Value for the money, you'll pay way under sticker. No reliabilty issues to report.

Weaknesses:
Ford service a little under par from what I'm used to. Still skeptical of reliability. Stock sound system has to go.

Similar Products Used:
My first full size truck, but I have 3 friends with 04 or newer supercrews (1 lar, 2 xlt's) and they have had no problems to report, they love them!

Price Paid:  $32000.00 from Ford of North Scotts

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 F-150 supercrew cab 5.4 V8

Summary:
I've driven Fords all my life. Never had a new one. Always have driven used. And have never had a problem.
Finally thought it was time for a new truck since my 1999 f150 had over 100,000 miles on it.
So I treated myself to a brand new 2005 f150 xlt supercrew cab. Beautiful truck, has a ton of options and more than enough power for towing.(5.4 V8).

Strengths:
Plenty of power. Gas milage is reasonable for a full sized pickup.
The ride is unbeatable. Styling. Very nice.

Weaknesses:
Not a dependable truck at all. Always breaks down.Replace water pump at 8,000. And a new set of tires on the front because of abnormal wear. Had a shimmy in the front end. And a rattle in the dash, still not fixed.
At 9,000 replaced ACU valve and master cylinder. Brakes still very soft.
At 9,400 replaced 2 injectors, 8 spark plugs and catalytic converter.

Price Paid:  $23800.00 from Winner Ford-Newark,

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 F-150 XLT Regular Cab

Summary:
The best truck ever built!! Exceptional interior room with 4dr regular cab. The only truck I've ever had that I didn't have to have the seat all the way back to be comfortable. Lots of space behind the seat to keep gear secure and the extra doors make it easy to get to. Decent power from 4.6L V8. Getting 15 mpg combined use. Ride is a little stiff but handles great and is very quiet inside. Flareside bed is nice with tie downs inside and out. "Tailgate assist" makes it easy to lift the gate with one hand. Even my wife can close it now. All around, a great truck.

Strengths:
Good power Good handling Quiet Lots of room Lots of cup holders

Weaknesses:
Rides a little stiff Standard stereo speakers are not great

Price Paid:  $33100.00 from Heritage Ford - Sout

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 F150 Lariat

Summary:
Absolutely the best vehicle, car or truck, I have ever owned. Not one problem going on 2 years old, 21,000K.

Strengths:
Looks, ride, interior quiet, towing and hauling capacities, sound system, power... just about everything is put together solid!

Weaknesses:
Wish head rests could be turned - a bit uncomfortable... they seem to be backward.

Similar Products Used:
2000 Chevy Silverado - good truck, but can't compete with the F150 in any way.

Review 5 of 261

Price Paid:  $23000.00 from Sandy Suburban Ford

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 F150 Super Crew Lariat

Summary:
Anyone considering buying this vechile should think twice. The moment the warranty expired many things went south. Power steering went out. Which is very odd for a truck with less than 40,000 miles. All of the power window motors went out. The leather wears terribly. The leather wrapped steering wheel is falling apart. Metal is easily dented and very expensive to fix. The truck is so wide that when washing you must have a step ladder to hit all spots. The turning radius is the worst of any car I have owned. The only people who should consider this truck are people requiring 4WD and living in rural areas. Gas mileage is horrible. The dealership said I would get 18 mpg but am getting about 13 on the hwy.

Strengths:
Very smooth car like ride, attractive design, plently of passenger room, and the engine is layed out conviently for easy maintenance.

Weaknesses:
Truck is way too long and wide for parking. Poor turning radius compounds the problem. Poor gas mileage. Interior fixtures will not stand the test of time. Very poor rear window visibilty as Ford has chopped from previous model. I also own a 2003 Expedition and like the 150 have experienced similar problems.

Similar Products Used:
Honda Civic EX, Volkswagen Golf, Toyota tacoma Crew cab (should have kept), 1998 Expedition (should have kept), 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0
