Price Paid:  $308.00 from Salt Lake City, Utah

Year / Model Reviewed:
2009 Jeep

Strengths:
I did speak to corporate office who responded fairly quickly by return phone call several days later that I did not pay cash.

Weaknesses:
Someone at SLC office is $154 richer. Discount car companies are not discount. Save your money and rent one at the airport.

Summary:
Got a nice, clean rental car with low miles however they refused to take a check card so I had to put up my credit card to hold the car until returned. I paid cash to a man named Idie on return. (Couldn't help but remember that name)When I got my credit card bill, the card was billed for the rental so I paid twice for the rental.

Review 2 of 25

Price Paid:  $393.00 from Fox Rent A Car / Sea

Year / Model Reviewed:
2007 PT Cruiser / Convertible

Strengths:
Shuttle driver was extremely nice from the airport and to the airport was super accommodating - helping with luggage and waited the extra minute or two for us to check in the car.

Weaknesses:
Shuttle from the airport was 5 minutes late. FIVE minutes! I called the Seattle HQ after waiting the "15 minutes" and was told a shuttle would be there soon. "Sure" I thought. Sure enough, it rounded the corner. Heading to the car lot took about 10 minutes and the wait line was about 5 minutes. These are hardly weaknesses. I guess the building doesn't look great and the staff weren't wearing matching outfits and I did notice some tatoos and piercings but hey, I saved $400+. Serious weakness: the car WAS rather dirty. Head grease stains were all over the rear seat backs but this couldn't be seen until the convertible top was down. Car smelled okay, just gross grease head stains. Bird pooh was on the car too, but that's called Seagull crap! What would you expect near the water ... oh, the horn stuck, but you'd never know that unless you tooted!

Summary:
I searched the internet for deals and found FOX. Read the reviews and the company seemed horrible but I thought I'd give them a try. Overall they were very good and well worth the small problems that were encountered. We saved over 50% over the BIG companies for our 8-day rental and I figured if I could save $400+ I can use the savings and wash the car; or whatever!

Review 3 of 25

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
Stay away. We didn't get the car we ordered. Were given a filthy van for which we had to wait almost an hour. The kid at the counter told us it would be 20 minutes for the van to be ready, then walked away without telling anyone that we were waiting for it. Finally we asked what was taking so long and the kid's replacement at the counter didn't know anything about it. As for driving the van, it kept pulling to the left. For the money, go to another more reputable rental car place. (We used Fox at the Oakland Intl Airport)

Price Paid:  $100.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2008 SVU

Strengths:
Once I called there customer service she confirmed that was the policy would be willing to wave it.

Weaknesses:
I attempted numerous time to contact there corporate offices regarding the policy and could never get a person on the phone.

Summary:
Be very careful with this company! I rented a car from them as they were the only company with cars in SLC. I placed my reservation online. I only need to rent the car for a few hours but knew I would have to pay for a full day. Well I get to the counter and I am notified that if I turn the car in early (prior) to 24 hours there will be a early return fee of $10. I get online and sure enough it is a policy in the rental agreement. I can't not believe it:

"HONOR RESERVATIONS
Reservations will be honored for a period of twelve hours after the confirmed pick up date and time. Reservations confirmed for a pick up within the locations last three hours of operations, will be honored by that location up to 9 am the next day.

EARLY LATE RETURN - Your confirmed rental rate applies only to the exact reservation period specified. Returning the vehicle early or keeping the vehicle past the confirmed return date subjects you to a higher daily and/or weekly charge as follow:
Late return: The rate will increase by $10 per day for the extension period only.
Early return: The rate will increase by $10 per day not to exceed the original total amount of rental."

Review 5 of 25

Price Paid:  $384.00 from Los Angeles

Year / Model Reviewed:
2008 Chrysler 300

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
terrible Chrysler vehicles, poor customer service, dirty cars, unsafe cars, terrible pickup and drop off locations, use bait and switch tactics.

Summary:
Worst Experience EVER.

Booked online at Fox's website for a Chevy Impala using a discount code from carrentalsavers.com.

Arrived at LAX from Sydney Australia and waited for the FOX shuttle to pick us up and waited. Called them up and it turns out you have to get the red Premier Shuttle Bus.

Did not have Impala I asked for as I was driving from LA to Las Vegas. Did not see a Chevy Impala in the entire lot. (Bait and Switch? Definitely) Only saw Chrysler product. Was told the equivalent was a Dodge Avenger. WTF? I quickly declined as I know of the very poor reputation of the car.

Fox offered me Dodge Charger at no extra charge. I declined as I know the rental car Charger engine is far too small for size of car. Accepted Chrysler 300 for discounted $15 per day.

Dirty on inside and outside. Had to take hotel washcloth to clean inside.

Right front tire had improper wear and could not safely drive more than 50mph without loud tire noise and shaking of vehicle. Very unsafe.

Called Fox 1-800 number to arrange new car and was told a new clean and roadworthy car would be waiting for me the next day.

Arrived to pick up new car although it appeared that this was no prearranged. Was given dirty car that was blocked in by another car. Complained that the car was dirty inside and out and the employee asks me "how did that happen?" I just looked down and shook my head in disbelief. This is all I needed. I nicely asked him if he could have it clean and was told it would take 30 mins. As I was on vacation and did not have time for this I told him to forget it. Was told that everything would be documented in the computer system and that a discount would be negotiated at time of drop off. Asked to speak with manager who was conveniently not there.

While driving from LA to Las Vegas I find out that the Cruise Control does not work. 4 hours to Vegas without cruise control is not cool.

Was never given drop off location in Las Vegas. Had to get instructions from other rental company at Las Vegas Airport for Fox Rental dropoff location which is in the middle of nowhere.

Information regarding problems was not entered into the computer system so I had to threaten them and only managed to get the upgrade charge of $15 removed.

With all the problems and the lack of customer service I seriously recommend spending a couple of extra dollars and going to someone like Alamo or Dollar. Don't risk it for a couple of bucks.

You would think that given the economic situation a company would want to be more competitive and that the staff would put a little extra professionalism to ensure job security. Apparently this is not the case at Fox.

Stay away from Fox. Let them be their own undoing. I can't imagine them ever being good.
