Price Paid:  $240.00 from pep boys

Year / Model Reviewed:
1993 chevy 1500 silverado

Summary:
I bought these tires because of the price. On dry pavement the were great. Wet or snow, they sucked ...but I got 70000 miles out of them, and probably could've gotten 20000 more. I never once had to put air in them. We would joke about them being solid rubber throughout. Good tire for the money.

Strengths:
Extremely long tread life.
Zero maintenance for me.
Decent looks.

Weaknesses:
Wet weather traction.

Similar Products Used:
BFG Comp T/A (fast wearing tires)
BFG Excentia GT (better in wet weather)

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Bought used tires in

Year / Model Reviewed:
1998 Volkswagen GTI VR6

Summary:
I have these tires on the back of my GTI. The car has a limited slip (posi-trac, torsen, whatever you want to call it) differential, H&R cup kit, and Bilstein sport shocks installed. The car handles ridiculously amazing and these tires have held up to exit speeds out of corners over 70mph without losing grip.

I am able to get the car to oversteer with them if i go into a turn at a certain angle, but its easy to avoid and easy to compensate for. I believe they do grip very well for what they are and im supprised by the preformance of the so called "crap tires". Im sure they aren't a match for the potenza's on the front, but i have kept them on the back. Im might put them up front just to experiment. Final verdict, these are decent tires, good grip at (at least for not the drive wheels), and good value overall.

Strengths:
-Grip pretty decent
-Come in hard to get sizes (195/45/r15)
-Cheap price

Weaknesses:
-Slide when pushed really hard
-Tread pattern looks cheap

Similar Products Used:
Worse than the Futuras:

Goodyear Eagle GT (Garbage! Not recomended!)
Goodyear Eagle LSA (Even worse than the GT's!)

Better than the Futuras:

Bridgestone Potenza RE910 (One of the best tires i've ever driven on)
BF Goodrich T/A Traction (Also an amazing tire, comparable to Potenza's)
Toyo Proxxes 4 (Very very good tires, especially for the money!)

Price Paid:  $45.00 from PePBoys

Year / Model Reviewed:
1990 GLS Super Sport

Summary:
I purchased a set of Super Sport GLS 215/60R14 tires for my 1990 Ford Probe in Aug. 2004. I have been driving on them for about 30k miles now and they are barely worn. They were purchased in Las Vegas where they were driven daily in 100+ degrees, I then moved to Colorado where they have been driven on snow in temps as low as 20 below zero. and again over 100 degrees. I commute at 75MPH 85 miles to work and back 6 days a week. I have never had a single problem with these tires. They are quickly becoming the best tires I have ever purchased.

Strengths:
excellent treadlife, good grip in rain or snow. all around excellent all season tires.

Weaknesses:
none found so far

Similar Products Used:
Kelly, Goodyear, BF Goodrich

Review 4 of 16

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Were on the car when

Year / Model Reviewed:
1994 Honda Del Sol

Summary:
I find it disturbing that I had exactly the same experience as described by the driver of the Geo happen to me this afternoon. I own a tuner and it weighs in at 2,000 lbs with me sitting in it. I can't believe that there is someone with a 5,000 lb. car using Futura GLS's for Auto-X. I feel for you and the car next to you when these tires decide to crap out.

I was running 65 mph (thank GOD I wasn't rolling at my usual rate of speed!) in a straight line on the highway this afternoon when my front passenger tire decided to disentigrate. No warning whatsoever, just a massive blowout. I have considered replacing the tires (they honestly neither ride nor corner well) but haven't because they have what appears to be decent tread on them. Let me tell you, appearances can be decieving. Had I been running at my usual comfortable pace or much less in a hard cornering situation I likely wouldn't be alive to post this review.

This is the first set of Futura tires I have had the misfortune of rolling on and I can promise you it will be the last. You can't afford to have a healthy looking tire decide to defect on you at over 100mph, if you can you must be a freaking cat with eight more chances to get it right. And why is it that a tire rated to 118mph (wasn't highly enough speed rated for my needs anyway) can't seem to handle a Geo Prism? Sorry guy, no offense intended.

So in closing I say: If you're rolling on Futura GLS Super Sports that could change at any given moment without warning. If you're not, you're best off keeping it that way.

Strengths:
None that I'm aware of. Maybe they last a long time but a lot of good that'll do you when they decide to pull a Houdini.

Weaknesses:
Get real people in love with them, they're weak. Low traction in hard accelaration+sqealing and complaining in cornering=You sitting on the side of the highway saying "Why?".

Similar Products Used:
I have NEVER had a tire pull a vanishing act on me like the one I was fortunate enough to survive this afternoon.

Review 5 of 16

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 GMC Sonoma

Summary:
Ive had 235/65R15 s on my truck for about five years. All I can say is that im NOT going to buy any more of these even though I work at PepBoys and i get a discount. There ok on dry pavement eventhough they spin relativly easy. On wet pavement they SUCK. Takeing off from a stop I have to baby it or all I do is spin.

Strengths:
Excellent tred life. Five years and they still have alot of tread life left and I drive pretty hard.

Weaknesses:
On the other hand the compound is too hard and they dont have the bite I need on dry and expecially wet pavement.

Similar Products Used:
Factory Tigerpaw 205/75R15 these tires didnt hold up as well but the traction wass better.
