Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $169.00 from eBay

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2000

Summary:
Very nice sounding speakers-they live up to their reputation. I saw BIG improvements in my stereo imaging. My music sounded more enjoyable. Very accurate, crisp, and dynamic sound with high efficiency (may require horn volume level to be reduced). Made subtle sounds and detail in my CDs really stand out! Reviewer below, "Illsystem", is not really correct. Any speaker MAY need EQ adjustment, and in my system the CD1E V.2s needed very little equalization-measured on RTA-very nice response! Sound great, I tell you! Usually listed on eBay-I got lucky and got new ones for a low price. Next (due to their size) I plan to get the mini-horn model. Can't wait to hear the CD1 Pro and CD2 COMP models! If you can get a good price, if you want good stereo imaging, and if you have midbass drivers to use them with, I really recommend them for you.

Strengths:
Accurate sound, high impedance (non-resistive type driver element), pretty good manual supplied, efficient use of amp power, very sharp high frequencies.

Weaknesses:
Expensive if you pay retail. The CD1E V.2 model is bulky, and hard to fit in my small car. Driver-to-horn mount adapter (acrylic plastic?) can crack. Other than that I recommend them.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $300.00 from speed and sound

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2001

Summary:
CD1PRO MiniHorns- I was definately scared at first because I heard these things dont hit the highs and need to be EQ''d and sound nasal sometimes. Wrong...They need absolutely no equalization to sound balanced, and they dont sound nasal at all. DO NOT buy the CD1E horns...they need to be EQ''d and are a completely different engineering concept from real horns like the CD1PROs...for an extra $100, you get the CD1Pros (but you have to have 2 extra amp channels and an electronic crossover (or custom passive) to make them work for you) The highs on the CD1PROS are incredible and the mark of a gook speaker.... no ear fatigue. The sound image is definately not as wide as it could be but I have a feeling if I spent some more time angling them, they would be perfect. Overall, there are no better mids/tweets you could possibly get for $300. I have them mounted way back under my dash (AUDI A4) and you wouldn''t ever guess that the sound was coming from right above your ankles, they sound incredible. Make sure your installer has done many horns before or have him call image dynamics for install tips...they are very cool about helping out without installs.

Strengths:
Incredible presence, really really loud with hardly any power. Clean as hell....

Weaknesses:
sometimes the seperation between instruments is a little mushy...when I say little, I mean really little....

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $1500.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 cd2 horns

Summary:
THESE ARE THE MOST IMPRESSIVE TWEETERS I HAVE EVER HEARD. I HAD 4 JLW6 15'S ON A PHOENIX 0.5 AND 4 8" KICKERS RESOLUTIONS AND CD2 HORNS OF ANOTHER 0.5. THE IMAGING AND SOUND STAGE WAS SPOT ON AND AND THE DETAIL BLEW ME AWAY. I FELT LIKE DISCONNECTING THE SUBS SO I COULD ENJOY THE HORNS. THESE THINGS HAD NO PROBLEM KEEPING UP TO ALL THAT BASS! AWSOME!

Strengths:
STAGING,IMAGING AND DETAILED SOUND...

Weaknesses:
FITTING PROBLEMS AND PRICE...

Review 4 of 4

Year / Model Reviewed:
 CD2

Summary:
The CD2 horns provide me with greater imaging than I've ever heard from any component or coaxial. Sound quality and depth were phenomenal. Not only that but they also have an efficiency of 109 db ... 10 - 20 more than any cone can produce. Crisp clear sound. Paid approximately $1500 Cdn for them ... so if you have money to spare, buy em. But unless you're an audiophile, there's cheaper horns that come close to this one.
Great product.

Strengths:
sound quality, sound depth, imaging like no coaxial
