The 2008 XJ-Series is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sedan, or luxury sports sedan, available in 5 trims, ranging from the XJ8 to the Super V8.
Upon introduction, the XJ8 is equipped with a standard 4.2-liter, V8, 300-horsepower engine that achieves 16-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. The Super V8 is equipped with a standard 4.2-liter, V8, 400-horsepower, supercharged engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 22-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims.
Summary: The XJ series from Jaguar is really something. I decided to take a test drive in a Jaguar XJ8 and I was very pleased with its performance. The sales representative told me about the XJR 100 and it sounded excellent. Two weeks later the car arrived and I took it off the lot. The car has had no problems and looks great. Every time I pull it out of the garage I get compliment after compliment. Jaguar has finally turned around and has made a great car.

Summary: This car is luxury moving. You don't drive this vehicle in the conventional sense, you more like move through space (and not much time due to its speed). It's a whole new plane of getting from A to B. Things you would be thinking about when driving other vehicles simply don't trifle the Jaguar driver. However, when you send it through a nice high speed bend this Jaguar really grips and rockets through. The engine noise (when pushed) sounds thoroughbred- not raucous but like an aluminum hand in a connolly glove. This car satisfies whatever you feel like experiencing at the moment. Rented it from DIA Hertz. Good way to get renters hooked on Jags...
Strengths: superlative quality inside and out superb ride and drive quiet, smooooooooth, and powerful (like a big cat) unique, fresh, and yet classic head-turning looks design, build, and invulnerable feel amazes "fellow" motorists super modern mechanicals and V8 engine
Weaknesses: Sometimes a lack of road feel, I rented this car for 5 days and put about 1500 miles on it during March. When I drove this vehicle from Denver to Omaha we ran into some freezing rain. Although the Jaguar felt positively safe, sometimes I wondered how my tires' traction was doing while cruising at 85.

Summary: $71,000 loaded. I would recomend this car to anyone that wants performance, luxury, style and heads to be turned.
Strengths: One word - STUNNING. Looks, performance, style, handling, cachee. It doesn't get any better. The power unit delivers amazing torque over pretty much all of the spectrum.
Weaknesses: Tight headroom for a tall guy.
Similar Products Used: Jaguar S-Type. Still got that car and I love it too.

Summary: Saw this car in the showroom and thought "WOW". Not only do I think the car is beautiful, I get positive comments all the time. The elegant interior makes me feel great every time I get in. Performance is terrific. The torque in this jewel is incredible. Road feel and ride are very good. Down side is the seating is not comfortable for someone 6 feet tall. I have gotten used to it, but it is cramped. My right leg regularly hits the parking brake and the keys hanging from the ignition. It's bothersome. However, the "Fun Factor" of this car is very very good. Although I wouldn't lease another one, I'm glad I have driven this car for the last three years. I just saw the new 1994 XJR model. This one looks far better.
Strengths: Tremendous style, luxurious interior. The factory wheels look great! Engine horsepower and torque are very very good. This car is fun to drive!!! Next car is Mercedes Benz S55 (on order).
Weaknesses: Seats are not as comfortable as I'd like. The built in voice actuated analog cell phone is horrible. (It only cost $2,400.) Reception is horrible and dropouts abound. My pocket cellular phone works FAR BETTER!!! Tight fit for someone 6 feet tall or over. Alpine sound system is good, not great.

Summary: This is my third Jaguar, all XJ's the first two were 12 cyl. (XJ12 and XJ/S).
So this will be a positive review - no doubt. I was hesitant to accept an 8 cyl. Jaguar, but now that I have it, I'm glad I bought it. (verdict is still not out on the dealer, though). This particular car is a more refined XJ, as compared to the past Jaguar cars I have owned. Power is smooth and quite acceptable, ride is defineately Jaguar. Comfortable leather seating for four adults, no wind noise, climate control, need I say more.
Strengths: V-8 has sufficient power, and XJ sedan design is timeless.
Weaknesses: single windshield wiper (but that's just me)
