Price Paid:  $250.00 from cellular universe(ca

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 jl audio 12w6v2

Strengths:
super good bass and very clear compared to anything i have heard. great deals are found if you look and are patient. I looked for 3 months untill i bought this one.

Weaknesses:
there are non

Summary:
I was looking at criagslist and found this sub for a deal i couldn't refuse. I have tried this sub in a number of different boxes to decided how i wanted it to sound. in the ported box recomended by JL it HITS HARD!!! and exstremy loud. it rattled the living daylights out of my car. not that i don't like it loud but theres no reason for me to have it up that loud. so i tried the non ported box. its a tight bass but very good sounding bass that i think worked fairly well for my music (rock/metal) and its still hella loud. I had a sony before this and unlike it with the JL you just keep turning it up and one would think eventualy it would quit or start to get destorted but to tell you the truth it dosen't it just gets louder and louder, my speakers go out before it will. I highly recomend this subwoofer to anyone especialy if you get a good deal on it. several people including dealers will tell that nothing will push it like the jl 500/1 amp. but im using an e1400d and its the same watts, the 500/1 is 500watts@1-4ohms and the e1400d is 320@4ohms and 500@2ohms. so unless your running two JL's you don't need the 500/1.there's no real way to describe the way the sub hits you have to hear it. i read several reviews from all kinds of sites but never in my life did i think it would sound like this, its just simply amazing.

Review 2 of 6

Price Paid:  $245.00 from ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 10w6v2

Strengths:
Sound, build quality, looks cool with the JL integrated grill or mounted with the frame outside the box.

Weaknesses:
Wont handle a thousand watts, but I like to keep my hearing so thats not a problem.

Summary:
First, lemme say this is for the 10w6v2, had to drop this review in here cuz there was not category for the 10. Alright, this is one helluva good sub. It will play in a ridiculously small box, JL recommend .65 cu ft for a sealed box. thats what I used. This sub is flat out ACCURATE!! What you feed in is what it plays. Want deep bass, u got it. Like it fast and tight, no problem. This makes it the ideal sub for whatever kind of music u like. It sounds good at low volume or maxed out. One tip here, use an amp with a subsonic filter to remove freqs below about 35 hz. I know people say u dont need em for sealed boxes, and that is true. U dont necessarily need em, but u want em. Without tryin to move the cone so much/excursion, it allow the sub to be much more accurate. Keeps the bass tight and clean. This sub has an amazing suspension. U just marvel at the cone movement. Its an amazing piece of engineering, build quality is top notch. Sound quality is beyond reproach. This was the highest rated sub ever test for car audio and electronics magazine. Get one for yourself and you will see why.

Review 3 of 6

Price Paid:  $0.00

Strengths:
Nice sound at all volumes and with all styles of music. The mother of all SQL Subs(SQ+SPL).Deep notes hit hard and frequency transisions are very precise. Very solidly built. Can be played and played with good amp without ever overheating or wimping out.

Weaknesses:
price but hey I promise if you dont save for this one your just wasting your money.Do it right the first time car audio is not suppose to be cheap.

Summary:
I have one 12w6v2 preloaded in the High Output box that JL builds.Let me tell you save some money by spending some money.im 36 years old and have been into car audio all my life. I have had many many subs in many many boxes.I wont lie and say the non JL subs didnt hit hard but ive had three differnt prebuilt jl boxes from the 2 12w0's to this 12w6 and the Jl's just sound fantastic. This 12w6 hits harder and more importantly cleaner then any sub or subs that I have ever owned. If you like all different kinds of music(With that sweet car sub bass) like I do, You will love the way this speaker sounds. It can roll through the low frequecy range effortlessly at almost any volume level. And although Im not sure of the spl numbers as I have yet to test it, but lets just say "JL DEFENITLY GOT BASS" Dont by 20 cheap speakers first. Save for the JL I promise you wont be disipointed.

Review 5 of 6

Price Paid:  $330.00 from IndoAudio @ ebay

Year / Model Reviewed:
2005 JL 12W6v2-D4

Strengths:
High End SQL subwoofer. Takes such a small amount of power for it to start bumping when powered with 500 watts RMS.

Weaknesses:
I hate to say it, but I wish it had a little less SPL, so I could listen to regularly.

Summary:
When Jl Audio says this subwoofer is capable of high output with high fidelity sound, they mean it. I literally had to turn down the Sub-W level down to 2 on my Alpine CDA-9807. Be careful, don't use it for attention especially when powered by the 500/1. It hits ridiculously hard. Managed to hit 121 at a volume of 12 out of 35 total.
