Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $130.00 from Circuit City

Year / Model Reviewed:
2004 GM-5000T

Strengths:
It runs very cool... I push it to 60% power for a 45-min drive twice a day, and every time I check it it's cool. LOTS of power for the money.

Weaknesses:
Not very adjustable. Bass boost, LPF, gain... that's it. Also, no extra preamp outs.

Summary:
I picked this thing up on clearance for $130, and I've never regretted it. I had it hooked up to 2 12" JL Audio 12w0-8's, and they absolutely rocked. I bridged it between the 8-ohm subs in parallel for a 4-ohm load, and the subs played so loud my CD player couldn't play because it would skip.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $150.00 from BestBuy

Strengths:
-A LOT of power for the price -Well built construction, and terminals

Weaknesses:
- NOT 2-ohm stable for subs - No bass boost - Non adjustable crossover

Summary:
Saw this amp at BestBuy when looking for a new amplifier to push my 2-12" Alpine Type E subs. Picked it up and went to install it. Looking at the manual, it says NOT to hook it up to a 2-ohm load, because it can cause overheating, smoking, and fire!!! Well, my 2 subs being 4 ohm each, I decided to hook it up anyway. It sounded great, until I turned it up loud, and it cut out after a few seconds, and the "protection" came on. Obviously not a good choice for low impedance systems, but may work well on 4-ohm loads. Also, it lacks adjustability. Has a LPF on/off switch, and a gain control, no other adjustments. Probably better suited for components, or 6x9s, etc...

Power Acoustik, Alpine, Kicker, all much better for a few bucks more.

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $61.00 from EBay

Strengths:
It looks nice, it sounds nice, and it has a cool little blue led to match the theaming of my car :)

Weaknesses:
It's only 760 watts max

Summary:
I purchased this amplifier from ebay and hooked it up to my friends Memphis mc154 and this sucker THUMPS, as a matter of fact it ranks up there with some rockford fosgates. I enjoy having this amp in my car and turning heads as i drive down the road ;P!

Similar Products Used:
Optimus 100 watt amp "it blew the optimus out of the water" no contest, Rockford fosgate 301s "an extremely nice amp, just don't hook the power up backwards!!! oops"
