from Video World TV & Ste Year / Model Reviewed: 1998 GM-X722 Strengths: -Flexible power in 4 ohm stereo, 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm bridged configurations.
-Reliability Weaknesses: -Amplifier simply cannot achieve stablitiy at 2 ohms bridged mono.
-Not exactly an ideal subwoofer amplifier Summary: When I first started out with car audio, I bought this amplifier to power a pair of 4 ohm subwoofers. At the time, both the dealer I bought it from and Pioneer Electronics itself claimed both channels were stable down to 1 ohm (2 ohms bridged mono) which should have been perefect for my setup.
Unfortunately, this amplifier was never able to get the job done at this load in a bridged configuration. Weak low end response and outright protection/shutoff resulted. I was forced to reconfigure my system and power my front stage with the amplifier's superb 80 watts per channel at 4 ohms.
It has excelled at this position for over four years now. Similar Products Used: PPI, Phoenix Gold
