Review 1 of 5

Price Paid:  $100.00 from Local Appliance Stor

Year / Model Reviewed:
 Pioneer TS-A6955

Strengths:
-Strong bass -Little distortion on a 50W amp -Clear sound reproduction

Weaknesses:
None in particular

Summary:
These speakers sound really good in comparison to the Sony Xplod 6 x 9s in my mate's car. They were more expensive, but when I listened to them in the shop I was convinced straightaway they were better! I have a JVC KDLH2000 headunit, and the MP3s sound really good with these speakers, and they provide plenty of bass, as well as clear mid and treble. Good speakers. Buy them.

Strengths:
Treble and tight bass. Price

Weaknesses:
none

Summary:
I listened to these at a local Best Buy and liked the sound/price. I looked online and found them at a great price. I also replaced the fronts with Pioneer TS-A1661. What a difference! MP3's sound incredible now. Best $100+ I've spend in a long time.

Price Paid:  $68.00 from PricesRite.com

Year / Model Reviewed:
 95 Maxima

Strengths:
very efficient at 93 db (for each extra 3db of efficiency your sound doubles. A 93 db speaker is like doubling your amp compared to a 90 db speaker. AWESOME BASS, Clear DEtailed mids, clear but not overpowering highs. Glass shattering efficency with a 45 watt/peak per channel head unit. Dont be afraid of treated cloth surroung. Some of Focal of France''s finest ($300 each) audiophile speakers have cloth.

Weaknesses:
None for the speaker, but I had to cut out 6x9 openings in the rear deck which

Summary:
Am an audiophile who has built high end speakers for 30 years. Installed TSA6975 in rear of Maxima after (ugh!) buying and installing JBL GTO 6.5''s, (Screechy, no bass), Boston Acoustics 67 (6.5)(no mids, no bass, tinny highs) and lastly Blaupunkt pcxi693. Size matters. NO, I repeat NO 6.5 or 6.75 can produce the bass of a 6x9 with 1.5 times cone area. I used Blaupunkt pcxi653 in fronts (supposedly 93 db also; great match for Pioneers and didn''t have the "drummy" bass or screechy mids that the 6x9 Blaupunkt had that drove me to the pioneers. I actually chose the cheaper 3 way over the 4 way in a critical listening audition. You just don''t need 4 way in a car speaker and the crossover for a 4 way in a car is just not up to clarity: 3 way is significantly clearer, in my h.o. Be sure to go and listen. Speakers are subjective. I like detailed, bright speakers. Some like "softer" mids and highs.

Similar Products Used:
JBL GTO 6.5 (Screechy, no bass) Boston Acoustic 67 (no bass, no mids, not efficient as Pio) Blaupunkt pcxi 693 (Screechy mids, "drummy midbass": FS (natural frequency) obviously too high.
