from Ebay Year / Model Reviewed: 1997 Honda Civic EX Summary: I've been wanting these speakers since I heard them in the store. Compared to all other 6.5 speakers in this price range, the Polk DB650 had the most balance, organic sound to me. Whatever the reason (the silk dome tweeter, the 2 way crossover, the rubber surround, quality, etc) these speakers always delivered or more "musical" tone. I listen to jazz, pop, R&B, classical, rock, Hawaiian, etc; and these speakers seemed to have the best frequency response. Mids still are still not strong, but better than other 6.5's. The high are clean and organic, not sharp and overcrisp like other speakers with metal tweeters. The bass is there, but since it's a small 6.5 there isn't a lot. You'll need larger speakers to go along with these to make up for the bass.
Note: EVERYONE, including places like Crutchfield, Circuit City, etc all say that these speaker will not fit a 96-00 civic. But I took the chance (because I liked the sound so much) and found that they fit JUST FINE in my 97 civic front doors with NO MODIFICATIONS.
I'm running these off a Pioneer DEH4600 deck (no external amp) with JBL 6x9's in the back. Strengths: Balanced, organic sound. Love the silk tweeters. Warm mids. Weaknesses: Small drop out in the upper mids. Limited bass (as expected) Similar Products Used: OEM, Kenwood
