Summary:
I drive a 1991 Chevrolet Silverado that uses 2 4x6 speakers in the front, and 2 4x6's in the back. I wasn't sure if I could find good sounding speakers in this wierd size. I was wrong. After listening to many speakers at my local speaker shop, I chose the Polks. They have a very crisp and nice high hit on them, but have little bass. 4x6 are not big enough to produce bass anyways. For what they are made for, they are awesome. I would recomend a sub to go with them!

Very good at what they are made to do, (high notes)

Weaknesses:
little bass, but not made for this. include a sub with your system!

Summary:
I am running these speakers with the internal amp on an Alpine CDA-9830. Good speakers for midrange and high frequencies. They have a warm, mellow quality to them, as opposed to the bright to harsh quality some speakers have. I realize these speakers are not designed for bass output, but the bass response is very poor. This creates a problem for me because I like balanced mid and high frequencies, but can't apply a high pass filter to the front speakers only. I have 6x9's in the rear which handle bass pretty good, but when I crank up the volume, the small front speakers max out. I guess I'll have to get a subwoofer and stop complaining.

very poor bass response

None really, my old system ran 6.5" in the front and rear. I had Infinity Reference speakers running off a low-end Pioneer head unit. That system sounded 10 times better.
