Year / Model Reviewed:
 Profile Clarus 640

Strengths:
Clean, strong power. Unexpected big power in bridged mode to drive sub and with great clarity. Very good damping. It has front and rear X-overs that are variable and either can be set to be low pass or high pass or full pass. Very flexible amp.

Weaknesses:
Profile only makes this amp in a 75 watt rms X 4. I have a new car and am doing a new setup. I want about 100 watts rms per corner with about 350 watts rms to the sub. The largest 4 channel amp Profile makes is the Clarus 640. But, that's not a "weakness" per se, it's just limited product availability. If they had a more powerful version of this amp I would buy it. So, I'll have to go with Rockford or MTX this time around.

Summary:
Excellent quality, look, and most important SOUND. I used this amp to drive a front set of Rockford Fosgate Fanatic X 6.5" components and (1) 10" Polk sub. The sub was mounted in a Q-logic sealed box which was stuffed with poly-fill. The overall sound was awesome for an amp which costs so little but performs real big. It drives at 75 watts rms per corner. I bridged the rear channels to drive the sub, and it puts out 225 watts rms in bridged mode into a 4 ohm load. This is Profiles newer and newest amp and it can compete very nicely with products from MTX and Rockford. This amp has plenty of power to drive front speakers/components with either 1 or 2 subs in the rear. In a hatchback this subs will hit nicely but musically. The amp has very nice control and user controls to shape the sound which is necessary for any good setup.
