Price Paid:  $100.00 from rom friend

Year / Model Reviewed:
1998 sony XM-1002-XH

Summary:
This amp is one beffy under powered amp...I have had it running my 2 old gold kicker 12s for years then went to 2 15s kicker crv dvc subs and ran it in 1 ohm(must have a cap for this)and it was amazing...pounded the heck out of them it is a power hungry amp at this level of power need to run 1ohm..but with a cap no problems other than a bit of light dim at night...my last set up was 4 10s punch xlc it pushed them very hard with gm high out put alter.running 1 battery just to the amp...this is a monster of an amp when running right hade 4 fans in an amp rack...the amp is now really beat up do to moving it around so much after taking it out for my jl audio setup i now run(500/1 and a 300/4 running 2 10inch cerwin vega VEGA subs)if you want an amp that can run your subs right then this is it must use good power leads!!!!mine is the purple one and im now selling it so if ya want one of these 80 bucks ya can have mine www.rednecks97015@hotmail.com im in oregon and will ship, pay by paypal only you pay the charges

Strengths:
I love the way the amp works the more amps you feed it the better it runs, never hade a bad problem over heating runing just 2 subs when i went ith the 4 subs i hade to add fans so i overkilled it with 4 of them

Weaknesses:
paint is weak scratches easy, and it will run hot(it is an old school amp they do that)if you have it out in the open they do stay pretty cool but under a seat forget it

Similar Products Used:
none at the time....JL AUDIO amps kick over this but look at how well jl audio is built...lol

Review 2 of 23

Price Paid:  $35.00 from E-Bay/Uttams Audio,

Summary:
I now have two of these XM100 amps. The first was purchased for $180 seven years ago, it's been bridged to drive one JL 12" sub in a 1.25 cubic foot sealed cabinet. It has been super reliable, and hits as hard and clean as when it was new.
I just bought and installed the second amp from an E-Bay auction. It was $35, and so far, it works as well as it's twin. The new (old) one drives a pair of JL 6.5" components.
What can I say, it has taken a long time to upgrade my front stage!
These two amps, powered and ground with 8 guage cables, one capacitor, plus 16 guage speaker cable, have made the interior of my '92 BMW sound so good, I want to just sit in the driveway to listen!

Strengths:
Reliable.
Old school elegant style.
Red anodized finish, looks good!
Supplies clean, accurate power.
Status LED's are a nice touch.
Flexible configuration options.

Weaknesses:
Finish is fragile.
Power and ground connection lugs are small
Status LED's are a bit dim in sunlight.
