Review 1 of 4

Price Paid:  $200.00 from related speaker sale

Summary:
When i purchased this sony amp i was sketchy of how well it would push my two 12 inch audiobahn subwoofers. I have had absolutely no problems with overheating or cut offs. This amp pushes my speaker with a great deal of power and it gives what it takes to make my subs quake.

Strengths:
Easily controls the output wattage to my subs and interior speakers, never over heats or cuts off.

Weaknesses:
Kind of ugly design, but who cares what it looks like when its doing its job.

Similar Products Used:
Seems to be comparable to the rockfort fosgate amps.

Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $120.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 '93 Honda Civic EX

Summary:
I purchased two amps at a really incredible price at a Sony Outlet store for $120 each. I use one amp to my 6 1/2's and 5 1/4" component speakers which works very well. The other amp I have pushing a 10" JL Audio DVC and when I try to kick up the bass the amp cannot keep up and easily overheats and makes the speaker crack and pop. I called JL Audio thinking its the speaker but they guaranteed me a replacement if I thought it was defective and said that it must be the amp. Audio shops said the same thing. I hooked it up to a Rockford Fosgate 500W and the sub really rocks. Good luck.

Strengths:
Dependin on your needs. Good amp for mid range speaker upgrade.

Weaknesses:
Not enough power to push a good quality sub. Screws holding the body together are not placed in a good place. I blew my first amp as I was installing it when the screwdriver touching the power connection made contact with one of these screws. Got it replaced by Sony though.

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $210.00

Summary:
I have this amp hooked to my Premier speakers and have fooled many people into thinking i have subwoofers. It gives plenty of power to max out the RMS on most speakers. The bass boost on the amp also helps to minimize head unit clipping from having the bass too high. I actually have my head unit bass at 0dB.

Strengths:
75x4 great for amping cabin speakers. Gives good clean power. Hi/Lo crossover. Speaker level inputs...

Weaknesses:
None i can think of. Could always use more EQ settings like their other models with the 5 channel EQ on em, but thats ok.

Similar Products Used:
Alpine amplifier....make and model i dont know...The speakers i used on the alpine system aren't as good as the ones im using now so i cant really do an accurate comparison.

Review 4 of 4

Price Paid:  $210.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 2000

Summary:
$350 US is definitely overpriced, but the mark-up is so large, you should be able to talk down the salesman. For a standard 2 channel + sub config, this amp performs quite well. The box has a "800 WATTS!!" sticker on it, which should definitely be ignored.

Strengths:
Variable crossover, hi-voltage/hi-current switch, good value

Weaknesses:
Large mark-up (which I didn't pay), cheezy looks.

Similar Products Used:
In my experience, one of the top Japanese 4 ch. amps in it's class.
