Review 2 of 18

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 CDX-4250

Strengths:
Sound quality for it's age. Clean interface, clear display.

Weaknesses:
Does not play CD-R/W at all! Though I've been told by the previous owner that it played them, but was picky with the brand of CD-R used.

Summary:
Old head unit which replaced stock on car. Decent sound/power. Idiot with JVC shouldn't write a review based on other's opinion.

Review 4 of 18

Price Paid:  $100.00 from True Value Hardware

Year / Model Reviewed:
1999 Sony CDX-4250

Strengths:
The volume knob has never stuck on me, the D-Bass is great, and would be better if i wasnt using crappy Sony XPlod speakers. Overall, all the functions are great on this unit, and it is very easy to use while driving. I also love the little bars that flash across the screen alternating between the clock and the radio station/cd track.

Weaknesses:
Sony Head Unit + Sony XPlod Speakers = Really Crappy Sound System (And for that guy who said the system turns off when you eject the discs, all you have to do is press source before you eject it, which turns the radio back on, and then when you eject the cd after that, the system will not turn off.)

Summary:
This is a great unit for the money I paid (only $100).

Similar Products Used:
Alpine, Pioneer, Bose (Bose makes the best sound systems ever!)

Review 5 of 18

Price Paid:  $200.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
 CDX-4250

Strengths:
1. Good user interface, very easy to work with. 2. Fading into the radio if switching from CD's so the loudness does not blow your ears away. 3. Removeable faceplate to avoid theft.

Weaknesses:
1. Extremely sensitive. 2. Impossible to play CD's (Both factory and CD-R's) 3. Very sensitive to weather

Summary:
I have an old 73 Dodge Power Wagon. A typical full size truck with noise and rattle and stiff suspension. I am 16 and my dad bought this when the factory radio quit. I believe when he purchased it about 5 years ago it worked fine but today it is just horrible. It is VERY sensitive to the following: 1. CD-R's 2. Sudden vibration (ie:potholes, speedbumps etc...) 3. Cold weather, however I am in California so when I get in it in the afternoon, it works quite well The bottom line is though that this is NOT worth the money you pay for it. I have had the same problem with the volume knob not working quite right, and most of the time it will not even begin to read my CD's. If you need a backup temporary radio, or if you can get one cheap to use just as a RADIO ONLY this would be a good choice. However, for CD's this is just garbage.
