Review 2 of 4

Price Paid:  $299.00 from Internet

Year / Model Reviewed:
 1996/Picasso

Summary:
This amplifier is by far the best sounding car amp I''ve ever heard. I had a pair of Soundstream Class A 100s before and they were the only thing that came close. The McIntosh amps I have now sound great, but the Picasso is better. If you are an audiofile nut like me, obsessed with SOUND QUALITY, then this amp is the one to run your mids and tweets with. The detail on my jazz/classical reference disc is downright astounding with the Picasso. I''ve been doing car audio for over 20 years, so I have a reference from which to judge. My front end is a 20-bit Nakamichi CD player, and this amp reveals all the detail you would ever want to hear, especially through my A/D/S components in my front stage!

Strengths:
High power, clarity, no noise, extremely transparent

Weaknesses:
None

Similar Products Used:
McIntosh, older Nakamichi, older Soundstream, Carver, HiFonics, A/D/S, Linear Power, Harmon Kardon

Review 3 of 4

Price Paid:  $425.00

Summary:
I've always heard "Soundstream on your highs, and Fosgate on your lows". This amp would prove that point. I usually run 60-75 w/rms per channel on my sats but this Picasso certainly nudges the larger boys out of the way. Very clear and powerful, it exceeded its reputation. A beautiful pice to look at, it amazes you when it is fired up and presented through some quality speakers. For distinctive sound quality, you'll have to dig deep and look hard for anything better.

Strengths:
Crystal clear... strong for its rating. Excellent build quality. This amp is perfect for the person after sound quality. Flexibility in wiring allows 4x25, 4x50, 2x100....handles 2 ohm loads.

Weaknesses:
None to date.

Similar Products Used:
This Class A amp, even with its underrated power specs, compares with the larger boys very well. The clarity of this amp is up there with the best. I've been into car audio since the 70's and I feel this is the cleanest and clearest amp I've owned. I've owned Rockford Fosgates and other Soundstreams.

Review 4 of 4

Summary:
i bought my amp new from a friend for about 400. i hear they sell in stores around 500 or so. i definitely recommend this amp. i understand you can run something like 24 speakers off the amp without any problems. soundstream is making a quality amp.

Strengths:
quality. this amp is rated at 25*4, but i bet you can't find another amp on the market that has the same rating and plays as loud or clean as this one. i have had no problems with the amp, and the chome finish looks great. the new cover hides the wires and adds a very clean look. i run 2 sets of mb quart's finest, and it plays loud and clear.

Weaknesses:
can heat up during the summer. needs air to breath and stay cool.
