Review 1 of 219

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
This company is the worst.

Despite the other driver taking responsibility at the scene, their "investigation" revealed the fault to be 50-50 which meant we pay for our repair and the other driver pays for theirs. The other driver had almost no damage and we are left with a bill for $1200.

I strongly advise you to choose another company. All insurance companies are somewhat hard to deal with, but these guys are unethical and unfair.

Strengths:
None
I'm sure they make a lot of money for shareholders, since they don't pay out for any accidents costs

Weaknesses:
unethical, unfair, deceitful assessors.
Very unlikely to pay in the event of an accident (which is why you have insurance, surely)

Review 2 of 219

Price Paid:  $0.00

Year / Model Reviewed:
2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Summary:
BEWARE!!!! I have been with USAA for over 30 years. I was in an auto accident in January, where the other driver took 100% responsibility. USAA only payed 80% of bills. I have been held responsible for the remaining amount, even though I have not been able to return to work. I have not received a dime for my time off work. They are sending me to an independant medical examiner to close the claim, despite I looking at having to have neck surgery, so I can get the circulation and feeling back in my arms.

Strengths:
None

Weaknesses:
Only pay 80% of medical bills, even if accident not you fault. Unlike medical insurance companies, they do not adjust rates to reasonable amount.

Review 3 of 219

Price Paid:  $28000.00 from private

Year / Model Reviewed:
2000 toyota

Summary:
We have been with USAA most of our life with good service. Suddenly this year USAA raised our premium to an unreasonable rate. After many phone calls trying understand why they were doing this it became obvious they wanted us to drop our policy with them by increasing our rates. We did everything we could to try and reason with them but they would not budge. We approached Armed Forces Insurance and they welcomed us with reasonable rates and excellent service. We wish we did not have to leave USAA but they gave us no choice. We have talked to others with policies with USAA and they are experiencing the same thing. Too bad!

Strengths:
They had a great reputation but it is dropping fast!

Weaknesses:
Customer service with our issue was atrocious. We tried to talk to someone with authority but could never get past the grunts.

Similar Products Used:
We had everything under them. Not any more.

Review 4 of 219

Price Paid:  $0.00 from Never

Summary:
May the Lord help you if your car gets totaled by one of their policy holders. Prepare to get offered thousands less than your car is really worth. They completely disregard the going market value of your car, Kelly Blue Book values, everything. It's obvious the total loss department is their cash cow. The department is run by the rudest, most egotistical woman I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They are not above name-calling and personal attacks. I honestly do not know how they sleep at night, taking advantage of people in times of hurt like they do. My advice is do not even bother answering the phone when their claim reps call you. Hire an attorney immediately. You'll be glad you did. That's what I did, and in the end I wound up getting what was rightfully owed to me, albeit a year later after much suffering.

Strengths:
I hope they treat their policy holders better than the people that their policy holders hurt, otherwise I can't imagine why anyone would ever choose USAA, military or not.

Weaknesses:
Dishonest, slimy snakes for claim reps. Their supervisors are worse. The supervisor's supervisors border on evil, and the 2nd line supervisor's managers belong in prison or worse.

Similar Products Used:
My insurance company has honest people working for them, even if I pay slightly more for it. At least I can sleep at night.

Review 5 of 219

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
I have been a USAA member for almost 12 years. I was involved in an accident in 2006 which totaled my car and USAA was absolutley the best. They took care of everything and I ended up not having to do more than just a couple of quick phone calls to tell them the story of the accident. I give the highest regards to their customer service as well as their rates.
