2002 ZX-7180 Summary:
For $166 this amp really did the job. The MOSFET was limited to what control you had over tuning the bass, selectable from a low-pass filter/full/high-pass filter, Bass Boost 0-18dB (I had that up to 18dB..yeah I know I'm stupid..hearing still fine though), low-pass and high-pass crossovers. Its a dedicated 2 channel subwoofer amplifier. It has quite a large fuse for its power rating too, 80A. Anyway, it was powering two 12" Aluminum-cone Xplods in one of those old gigantic Q-Logic bandpass enclosures (AGAIN, I was an ignorant kid who loved showing off pumping bass). It delivered awesome power for the price. It got hot, but back in my late high school years and first couple of semesters at college I listened to my music ignorantly. Hands down the amplifiers priced exceptionally great considering the power you're getting 640 watts RMS (bridged @ 4 ohm mono, 14.8V), or 320 watts RMS x2 (@ 2 ohm stereo, 14.8V). Cosmetics were definitely an issue. I had the black chrome model, and believe me it got dirty EASILY. Cleaning it was difficult considering the paint such as the "Volfenhag, a german concept" emblem would wear away if you touched it with the paint thinner to clean off the smudges around the emblem. Volfenhag's kind of notorious as being one of those brands you see at flee markets, but trust I've never had any power issues with it. All in all, 'A-good-bang-for-your-buck' amplifier. I would have powered my W6v2 with it, but it can't be bridged @ 2 ohm mono. Strengths:
As I said before, you get unbelievable power for what you pay for(640 watts RMS, $125-165). VU's were neat when I was 18, but I'm not really into the bling anymore, nor the car-shaking bass either. Weaknesses:
Just the cosmetics. If you install it wear some latex gloves so you don't leave finger prints, they show up very easily on black chrome Similar Products Used:
