Strength:

Many miles per tank and low cost to fill up.

Weakness:

None.

Great car and excellent mileage for the price. Consumers who don't like the car say "I only get 27.9 MPG or its too slow", NEWS FLASH people its 1.3L engine!!! If you want great mileage more bang for your buck don't floor the pedal and drive slower. The longer it takes you to reach 50 mph the better mileage you will get. Slow=Fuel efficent.

Strength:

seems to run very well other than the two
problems listed above; the navigation works
extremely well;

Weakness:

besides my major complaints - there are no
power seats and the bluetooth is an add on and not factory installed; if the mileage
dramatically improves after going to the dealer and they fixed the problem with the
humidity I would change my rating to 5';Honda didn't add anything special other
than the navigation;

I have had this car less than 3 weeks and have driven 410 miles in the city not freeways ;according to gauge in the car I am only getting 27.6 mpg ; that's probably right as I am now on the second tank-full of gas; also even with the ac on it is humid inside the car( only for the past week) ; I am really disappointed .

Strength:

A perfect car. I get to 60 in 6 secs. with the 5-speed trans. No significant repair with my reg. maintanence schedule kept

Weakness:

none for me

This 5-speed HCH gets better mileage than a Prius. Sometimes it depends on what grade of reg. gas I get from the supplier. I have gotten up to 46 city, 54 HWY, and 48.8 combined

Similar Products Used:

Rented a Prius from National--that's how I know I get better gas mileage. That Prius got only 45 combined mpg

gas mileage (44-49mpg)

Weakness:

Transmission problems, Loud road noise, seats very uncomfortable.

Other than the fact we are now on our 4th transmission the car has served it's pupose. 1st trans r/r at 26,xxx miles, 2nd at 54,xxx miles & the 3rd r/r at 104,xxx. The customer service at American Honda is horrible!!! Basically told us we are lucky they have covered the trans 3 times due to warranty. DONT BUY THIS CAR!Do you research, the CVT on this & many other Honda products is a problem.

Strength:

The car is roomy for a small car.

Weakness:

Very poor gas mileage for $10,0000 price tag more than the non hybrid version.

Don't buy a Honda Civic Hybrid if live in the Northeast and you want outstanding gas mileage. The sticker said 49/51mpg on my 2007. The 2008 says 40/45mpg. I don't get anywhere near that. My average is 32.4. I do both highway and city driving. I have done extensive reading on how to drive a hybrid to get the best gas mileage and made adjustment to my driving to no avail. I am sorry that I did not by a Prius. I have two friends who both get between 45 and 50 mpg routinely. I have called the company twice and they just tell me it depends on the driver. I am disgusted with the car.

STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT LEVER IS DIFICULT TO REACH

MY WIFE HAD A 2003 BUICK SUV THAT WAS COSTING $100 @ WEEK TO RUN.LOOKED AT TOYOTA--DIDN'T LIKE THE LOOKS.DEALER WAS VERY INFORMATIVE-NO HYPE OR PRESSURE. THERE HAVE BEEN ADJUSTMENTS OF COURSE.MAINLY WHEN YOU STOP!A LITTLE JERKY. OTHER THAN BEING A LITTLE NOISEY, THE CAR IS GREAT.JUST TOOK 600 MILE TRIP AND GOT EXACTLY 45.0 MPG.THE HONDA IS HERS-THE BUICK SHE GAVE TO ME.

If you can keep a heavy foot off the the gas, you can come really close to the estimated MPG. You have to also modify your driving direction and keep to more level ground while driving to get the better mileage, it can take a few minutes longer but is worth the MPG. The rest of the car is great.....

Weakness:

THE TRANSMISSION ! ! !

I mainly bought the car for it's hybrid option. I do average about 42 town and 46 highway on mpg.

I have had two transmission replacements so far, the first one at about 50k and the second at about 90k with problems starting at about 3k, all under warranty. They tried changing fluid a couple of times and updating or reinstalling the software mutiple times at the direction of Honda Motor Corp. Nothing has worked so far. Other than the transmission problems, I do like the car as a whole. Don't know if I'd ever buy another one though.....

The dealership has tried everything in their power to correct the problem, they've been great to deal with.

Model Reviewed: Honda Civic Hybrid

We are solely disappointed with the quality of Honda.

In April 2004 we purchase, new, a Honda Civic Hybrid. This purchase was performed after much research into different automobile manufacturers. We had companies we narrowed our choices to, Toyota and Honda.

We chose Honda because of, what we were lead to believe, was high quality and reliability of Honda vehicles: we were wrong.

The reason I state we were wrong in choosing Honda because of its supposed high quality and reliability is because after only 3 years and 75 thousand miles the air conditioning compressor failed (per DHM Honda in Temecula the hi-pressure line in the compressor actually split/blew out).

The dealer wants $1,300 to replace the compressor.

We currently have another vehicle, 1994 Ford F150 pickup truck. It has 165 thousand miles on it and the only thing we have had to do to it is routine maintenance, I.E. oil changes, tune-ups, etc. (so far the Ford has proven to be a better vehicle).

We traded in a 1997 Ford Explorer with 163 thousand miles on it: again, we only had to perform routine maintenance, I.E. oil changes, tune-ups, etc.

We traded the Explorer in to save money on fuel because the mileage was around 15 miles to the gallon on the highway: were we were lead to believe we would get 40 to 45 miles to the gallon on the highway – I say “lead to believe” because we have never achieved more then 37 miles to the gallon on the highway.

We are so disenchanted with Honda Motor Company and its vehicles it will be very difficult for us to ever consider purchasing another Honda vehicle.

I thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this letter.
