Strength:

Fuel Economy, Technical aspect incoporated into the driving arena (to obtain full performance driving habits are changed) The interest shown by the public in alternative technologies, Performance (fastest car I have ever had 1/4 mile @107mph) Style and the fun in driving a cutting edge form of transportation

Weakness:

Weird stability when encountering rutted roads, rear will wnat to track different, All the people with questions ( I have a printed handout with all the standard questions. Have handed out over 300 so far)

I ordered the vehicle Nov 99 due to a excellent review and comparisson in Auto journals. Recieved June 00 after having to educate the dealership. currently have placed 23000 miles on the Insight. Majority of my driving is country roads and some highway trips. I live in a state that implements an oxygenated fuel program in the winter months so I watched my average fall from 68 mpg to 64mpg last October My best trip mileage was over the Cascade Mountains to Ellensburg and back @ 84.4 mpg. I was in drafting and not always at the posted speed, sometimes above sometimes below. Mileage improves substantially when full attention is placed in the terrain and engine ststus. I like it

Strength:

Great gas milage. Low maintance schedule, such as oil change. Self charging battery. Roomy for driver and passager.

Weakness:

First weakness I have found is that it has slow get up and go going up steep inclines (going up the mountain). Second weakness is small storage space for grocery/shopping bags.

I travel 100 miles round trip daily to work. I average 65-70 mpg weekly. I do get better milage going into work since I am coming down the mountain (75 mpg). Going back home it does drop to 60-62 mpg. Since Aug 00 when I purchased the car my total average is 63 mpg.
What sold me on this car not only was the milage, but the low maintance.
I find it has good pick up and go driving on flat terrain. What has surprised me was how quick you shift from 1 to 5th gear.
I really did not expect to be the center of attention. People are always asking about car. I also get alot of thumbs up while people pass me.
I would recommend this car to people who drive great distances.

Strength:

Light weight. Stops with very little effort. Handles real tight. Gets plenty of looks and questions that can be bad when in a hurry. In town the car is as fast as you want and more than needed.

Weakness:

Trying to explain the car to every dumb@ss out thier. I was getting asked question at the drive up bank teller WTF.
Also to drive and keep up with traffic you need to pay a great deal of attention to your pedal and RPMs. If you are just driving without 100% attention and you come upon a hill you'll drop speed faster than a Big truck. The car just doesnt have the HP to increase speed when going up a sorta steep hill at highway speeds.
Also I only get 52 mpg not the 60-70 like it thought. I do drive mostly on the freeway at speeds around 80-85 mph.

I think that honda could have used the same type car frame and lightness and have gotten good MPG with less cost. Oh wait they did the CRX. But they stopped making them.?>

I like the car. I wouldn't have bought the car exepct it was a 2000 model and I got a real good price 18500 out the door with an exteneded warrenty.

You get a good car. But you have to want the car.

Handles very good, mileage great, AC working very good in Texas...this is a must. At his time I am seeing about 52.0 miles per gal.

Weakness:

The dealers don't know much about the car. But what is new......thery never do.

Great car get one. Only Honda could have pulled this off. Looks like I will be in this Honda for sometime until they improve the car again. I have received more comments on this cars. Everyone just loves it and wants to know mare about it. HOW DOES IT WORK...........AND WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU FILLED IT UP? HOW LONG AGO DID YOU FILL IT UP..............WOW!

Strength:

Fuel Economy. Quiet engine. Decent accelleration. Pretty car. There are no factory options available with this car, but passenger side air bag, power windows, remote keyless entry and ABS is all standard. Low maintenance. Oil has to be changed every 7500 miles. It holds a mere 2.6 quarts. There is no other 7500 mile maintenance, even the oil filter is slated for every 15000.

Weakness:

2 seater. Dealer will not install an airbag switch to disable the passenger airbag (I have no children of my own, but my friends and family have many). But, the connector to the passenger side airbag is behind the glove compartment and can be disconnected with out any tools. Designed to carry low weight. By the book, the load capacity for this vehicle is 365 pounds (That's including the passengers).

If you need to carry more than one passenger, you just can't do it. If you need to carry a heavy load, your going to kill this car. But, if your buying it for the purpose it was designed for, your going to love it. I drive 600 miles a week. About 500 of those miles is done on the interstate. I don't live in a mountainous area, but there are some minor inclines here in Ohio. I've been getting 62 mpg's. If you spend a great deal of time driving by yourself (or with one other person) this car is a God send.

I don't know what happened to Jack from Vancouver there. Maybe his dealer left the computer in some diagnostic mode that disabled the electric motor? At any rate, I love my insight and I'll probably keep it for as long as it will run. Which I expect will be a very long time.

If your in a high gear and going up hill it will slow down pretty quickly. But, I've had my Insight up to 60 miles per hour in second gear and the engine was not redlined. One word.....DOWNSHIFT!

I rate this car at 5 stars. I am in love with it. But, it's designed for a very specific type of consumer. If you are that type of consumer, this car is perfection.

Strength:

Love the looks, room inside, speed, green factor, and most of all, the MILAGE!

Weakness:

2 seats

First of all, the Prius gets less gas mileage, is slower, and is more pollutant than the Insight. The only better part about the Prius is that it has 5 seats, not 2. If you need a bigger one, get Prius. But this car has great workmanship and is a great deal (sold BELOW cost!). If you want to help reduce pollution and save humanity from a slow death of asphyxiation, this is your car.

Strength:

MPG's, crisp shifting 5 speed, decent handling, comfortable seats, overall Honda quality, and "fun factor". ( Get to laugh at the monster SUV crowd all the way to the gas pump!)

Weakness:

Ride is a bit choppy on un-even payment, ( but better that than sloppy handling like the Prius ), and a bit hard to see out the back.

I started by test driving a Toyota Prius. It's ok but lacked good road feel and offered very vague steering. No excitement.
When my wife and I first saw the Insight, we were not sure about it either. However, after the test drive, we both came away very impressed with the little car's driveability, comfort, and quality. And it's a gas, (no pun intended), to drive around in. Honda has done a great job of making what could have been a boring high MPG auto into a high tech wonder that pleases the wallet and excites at the same time.
On the stats side, were averaging 65 MPG's with normal driving behavior. And the comfort is very good for a small and very light weight car. I like the dash displays and they are easy to track once you get use to them. The MPG displays are superb, and add greatly to the fun of driving this car.
Highly recommended!

Strength:

Gas consumption. Looks. Comfort

Weakness:

If you need room to carry more than two or lots of baggage, this is not fot you

A very interseting vehicle with comfort, power (for engine size) and good gas consumption. Enjoyable to drive, good to look at,and low gas consumption in both town and highway driving. With a very pleasing driving position, the miles fly by.

And, not many people own a similar car so you're out on your own. In the period I have owned the car, in England, I have not seen another, so one is not driving a "run of the mill" vehicle. And of course, the purchase price is so much lower than the cost of building/shipping it.

Strength:

Gas mileage(40-60 MPG)

Weakness:

Not very fast
Light car
Performance is loss with more then one person

The first time I drove this car I thought, "Wow!" The engine's quiet and runs good. Handles okay. But when packed with people the performance lags a bit. So for those one person trips, I prefer my Ninja 250R Sportbike(50-70 MPG).
