Audi A4 (2010 and older) Luxury

Audi A4 (2010 and older) Luxury

DESCRIPTION

The Audi A4 has a planted, sportier stance and holds the road with a new sense of confidence and enthusiasm. Its new underpinnings are shared with the S5 and A5 coupes. Thanks to the liberal use of ultra-high-strength steel, the body weighs 10 percent less than last year's, yet is more rigid.

The 2.0 T is equipped with a new 2.0-liter, I4, 211-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 21-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway for a combined fuel economy of 23-mpg. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The 3.2 quattro with Tiptronic is equipped with a new 3.2-liter, V6, 265-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 26-mpg on the highway for a combined fuel economy of 20-mpg. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

Strength:

Very quick and responsive.

Weakness:

Cup holders are useless.

I have owned my A4 for two years, I bought it used (40k)off of a lease. I ran great until 95k then it went south in a hurry. Fortunately it was still under warranty until 100k, but now that the warranty has expired it is still running rough, the engine light keeps coming on and I have had the vehicle in for repair of the same problem three times. They still cannot identify the problem and it's currently at another repair shop because I got so frustrated with Audi service that I had to get a second opinion. I will NEVER buy an Audi again.

Strength:

I really like Audi AG and the great design and engineering they put in the cars. The cars are packaged just according to my requirements and it is cheaper than a BMW.

Weakness:

Too much trouble owning an Audi.

I finally got rid of my Audi A4, unfortunately I still have the bad memories. Everything was bad; purchasing experience, service and car quality. To start with, I could not find an Audi sales person who wanted to sell me an Audi, my very old BMW must have scared them. Unfortunately the only Audi sales person I felt I could work with was the biggest liar and "crook", for example he told me when leasing a car I should also pay for all my taxes up front. I was young and stupid, therefore I believed him. After having my brand new Audi I found two doors were misaligned which caused a lot of wind noise at low speeds. Took almost 6 months to fix that. After 2 years the car just refused to start, had to tow the Audi in to fix that. Servicing my Audi was almost never a pleasant experience. I bought a Mazda MPV (manufactured in Hiroshima, Japan), you will not believe how happy I am with the minivan.

Strength:

Great styling. Great Handling. Good highway power and cruise speed.(seeems like it could go 125 forever) Excellent features. This car feels solid and if I had driven it before others I would never have owned a nissan, oldsmobile, or cadilac.

Weakness:

Low power around town. And low gas mileage. Minimal back seat room. Locate mechanics before you need one. Some places don't know they can't work on an Audi until they are looking under the hood. Somewhat high repair costs if you aren't ready for it. Message to Audi: Build a better cup holder, charge 30,000 for it and give a car to everyone who buys one. And, while I am wishing, make cheaper replacement keys and cheaper electronics upgrades.

Great ride and handling. Somewhat small interior but ok with small children. Great at highway speeds or higher but is under-powered around town. Well built with excellent features. Seat memory would be nice as well as a better cup holder. This is a great car for a small family. I have had few bugs to fix and some were brought on by my own stupidity. Read the owners manual before driving the car to avoid a few headaches later.I bought this car used with low miles (45,000) and amimpressed with the quality even though the car is six years old. Mechanical troubles seem few and far between, the service records indicate the usual weaknesses for Audi but most of these had already been fixed before my purchase. So far service at the dealership has been good with reasonable to moderately high quotes. I will buy another Audi if I get a similar deal like this one.

Model Reviewed: Audi A4 1.8T FWD 5 Speed

Strength:

-Fast at higher RPM's -Many aftermarket upgrade options available -Interior sensibly styled -Heated seats -Ski bag extends from trunk into cab -Very safe car while still sporty

Weakness:

-Slow at low RPM's -Factory wheels are boring -Premium gas is an added expense -Stock stereo system is weak and can be a pain to upgrade

Well I just bought my Audi A4 less than a month ago. Overall I think I got a good deal on it, and have enjoyed it immensely since I got it. My Car has issues with the ABS sensor, which needs to be serviced or replaced. Besides that the car runs perfectly. The 1.8T engine is sporty and fun to drive, once you get used to it.

Strength:

fit and finish. interior room is great for a car this size. back seats fold down and provide great cargo space. lots of head room.

Weakness:

This is the only car I have ever owned that has needed to be towed. Apparently due to ignition recall that audi dealer was not to concerned about till it showed up on a flat bed. cvc boots went out, liquid filled motor mount went flat, sun roof jammed, sun roof control switch likes to openclose sun roof on its own at times, check engine light keeps comming on and dealer has no idea why. I also now have a fuel leak. If it was not for the extended warrenty, I would be broke. 3500 in repairs todate and still climbing. Also, AUDI SERVICE SUCKS. You dont get your car on time, ever, and they have given me back my car with grease all over the interior twice. Perhaps this is just the dealership in this town.

Audi 2.8 liter. Bought with 47000 miles. Now has 66000 miles Great interior fit . Nothing makes noise. Good looks. Handles O.K. Some over steer. Not a good car for long trips. Seats give me a back ache on extended drives. Transmition is sluggish and this car does not accelerate well off the line. Runs in the mid range speeds well though.

Very well-built. Road-commanding handling.

Weakness:

Expensive/recurring front suspension and steering problems?

Purchased recently (3-months ago)as 3-yr old (one-owner) vehicle off lease. (83Km/50,000 miles) Solid, sure-footed and safe. Road-grip/feel is top-notch. Comfortable and sporty (sport package and seats). Seats, steering wheel and driveability are all excellent. Dealer service/customer service somewhat suspect. Clunking front suspension and knocking steering column vibrations dealer was unable to detect/correct/fix. (Vehicle brought in twice for this concern). It saddened me to learn (through Internet searches, after I had brought the car in for service, twice) that these are well-documented and understood problem areas with 1998-2001 A-4's. It is a shame that the dealership did not simply point out this (well-known) problem and recommend a repair strategy/fix. The rattling/clunking concerns (and annoys) me, as does the (we don't know what your talking about)attitude of service dep't. Other than that, a seemingly well-designed automobile. We'll see what's in store after 1-year of ownership?

Model Reviewed: A4 1.8T Quattro

Strength:

Quattro All Wheel Drive, solid build quality and feel throughout, free maintenance for 3 years, attractive interior/exterior styling, numerous air bags and decent safety reputation.

Weakness:

Average performance (1.8T), 15" stock wheels are too soft and small for a performance sedan, tight back seat, smallish trunk, lack of power seat in the 1.8T, depreciates faster than one would like.

Originally purchased for the wife, I have now taken over this fun little package. Performance for a small engine is impressive though only adequate considering the A4's weight with Quattro. It's been a good car so far with only a few trips to the dealership for minor repairs. The free maintenance (or prepaid depending on how you look at it) for the duration of the 3 yr warranty is a nice feature. Quattro is what really makes this car special. It's not the most reliable vehicle I've ever had, but it's the most fun.

Strength:

Its a "Head Turner!" The styling is it's strong point. It is something you don't see a lot on the road. I love the convertible top.

Weakness:

When you put the pedal to the metal the car says "I don't do those kind of things." From a dead stop it has a tremendous lag. It has a delay of 1 to 2 seconds before it will go. I was told this is a characteristic of the cvt transmission. I think it is very dangerous when dirving around in city traffic, especially when making a left turn from the light and an on-comming car is speeding your way. I have had a few scary moments. When it does get going it has a lunging effect. My advice, wait until there are no on-comming cars in sight before making a left turn. Better yet, don't buy an Audi with a CVT transmission! A quick start off the line is nowhere to be found in this car but once you get going it drives great. One other problem is squeeky brakes. I noticed this at 1K miles. I am currently at 2500K miles.

My 1.8t A4 Cab is a beautiful car. It handles great. It bought it with the luxury and sport package. It gets a lot of looks while I'm driving it. It is very comfortable to drive and the backseat is usable. I wanted something other than a BMW and loved the look of the car. The car is equiped with the new cvt transmission. It takes some time getting used to it. It takes off slowly but once you get going it drives great. Lastly, this will be my first and last purchase of an Audi product. The lack of speed and a quick start off the line takes away from all of the good the car has to offer. Audi could fix the problem easily by eliminating the CVT transmission. I am just suprised that all of the car magazines missed this in their review of the car. Not one magazine wrote about how poor the cvt transmission performed from a standing start. They only commented on how smooth it was but it took some time getting used to it. I wished that I noticed this characteristic during the test drive.
