Strength:

-Classy
-Fast
-Great handling
-Super braking
-Loads of fun to drive (especially in manual transmission)

Weakness:

-Expensive to maintain
-Interior doesn't match the price
-No steering tilt or trunk release from inside
-Useless factory stereo

I bought this baby for about $37K drive-out around April '98. Ever since then, I've been driving the hell out of her. The car is pure plesure on the road. I have a manual transmission and pretty much learned to drive one on this car. I cannot explain how much I fun I have everyday just taking the car out on the road. The gear box, acceleration and handling are all just so mixed in perfectally. I have added a Top Speed cat-back exhaust system, BMP Design hi-flo racing air filter, OZ Italy Sinfonia rims, and Yokahama AVS Sport tires to the car. Buyers beware; once you start to fix this car up, you may be unleashing a monster inside yourself. The feeling of making something almost perfect even better may get addicting. I would definitely advice getting this car. There is the newer model out, and I have heard nothing but good about it. If you want performance, build quality, and a classy car, go for it.

Strength:

Beautiful design, Big breaks, on/off dsc traction control,
Smooth powerful engine with nice torqe range, Good 5sp stick
feel, convenient steering wheel radio controls, Xenons great
on suburban roads, Heated seats very comfortable in winter

Weakness:

Minor noises: faint rattle passenger door bottom right, spare tire in the trunk squeaks during cold temperature
The strong breaks causes too much break dust/clean wheels
weekly. Windows squeak loud when wet. Frameless door
window looks fragile but no problems yet.
The stock stereo is good if the volume is kept low
otherwise it's horrible.
Can't park anywhere without worrying.

2000 BMW 328Ci 5sp manual w/xenon,leather,moonroof,skibag,
cdplayer,bmw alarm color:black/black aluminum trim
paid 1500 over invoice + dest charge + advertising fee
I should have gone to carorder.com, oh well got free
cdplayer and bmw floormats anyways. I also get a free
car loaner if car is serviced.

I paid a lot for the car but it makes me smile every time
i go through twisted roads, off ramps and merges. I
fantasize about driving the 2001 M3 now. The 323/325 is
a much better value but would have constantly thought about
the 328. For a little more the bmw 330Ci will be
available by September 2000 also a better value.

Strength:

Best handling of any car I own.
Great braking ability.
Drives and looks like 2yrs new after 13yrs and 125K+ miles
Body integrity and paint are excellent
Reliable
Great looking, and more european than other european cars

Weakness:

Service/parts prices
Durability is not has good compared to Camry
Heavy car
Not a versatile car compared
Insurance premiums are high

I would only purchase this car again towards my retirement, and if I'm rich. The car is not versatile compared to most cars in this price range or lower. It simply drives like one of the best. You can get by with a lower-priced car.
It great for your ego, which is why most people purchase it, even though they really cannot afford it. Though they would not admit it.
It can always turn heads as you drive through down town or on the freeway, which is what most BMW owners like.
The car handles so well through windy roads that cautions you to take the turns at 15mph. You can take them at least in 30mph range...safely.
Great cars for young drivers or people trying to attract their next life partner. Unnecessary for families or married couples. If you can afford to fly first-class in your plane trips, this is the car that can fit your budget and style. If not, why be someone you're not? This car definitely exudes an upper-class image.

Strength:

Very roomy for a small car
Great handling, although it feels like you'll tip in corners
Very good acceleration
Outstanding quality & reliability

Weakness:

Dreadful steering -- lots of "play"
Automatic transmission made by GM (really!):
- abrupt shifts and slow downshifts
- no 1st gear. In 2nd, it shifts to 1st under 20 mph

The quality and reliability are much better than the previous generation. The steering and auto trans are worse. I needed the new model for the additional head and leg room.

I wanted a small car for aggressive driving. This is the only car I fit that is samller than a full-size Cadillac!

In line 6 engine is so smooth, transmission is willing and
able. Handling is awesome, like it reads my mind.It goes where you point it like a surgical knife. I just can't get enough of this car. It's worth every penny !!!

Weakness:

Brake dust is too much specially the front brakes even with
light braking. Stops on a dime though.

I used to drive a tricked-out Golf GTI VR6 before I got the BMW. I was heartbroken when i sold it, but the BMW 323i is like heaven on earth. All the reviews you read in the mags
is 100% true, not to mention the head-turning you get from this car. I LOVE IT !!!

Strength:

Good power, low-end torque, Hnadling, Feel, Steering, Stereo, Sunroof, and everything else

Weakness:

It's not an M3

This car is unbelievable. The engine and transmission can't be beat. The 323 and 328i both provide excellent power and torque for both generations, the torque loving baby boomers as well as us gen-x rev happy Honda drivers. If your going to buy a 323i, I suggest the premium package with larger wheels and plenty of other neat options, as well as a sunroof which really opens the car up as well as the 6-disc changer and Harmon Kardon stereo which really rocks. The brakes, suspensions, and chasis are rock solid. This is the first BMW I've owned, and I don't think I will ever drive anything else. This 5-speed is unlike any other manual I've ever used, its so smooth, up and down-shifting at any engine speed is a breeze. The onboard computer is good, but I wish there was another clock display somewhere. Gas mileage is about 20 miles to the gallon the way I drive which is not surprising, but I've averaged almost thirty on trips.

Model Reviewed: BMW 318ti

Strength:

Quick, agile, nible, light, and beautiful all describe the BMW 318ti perfectly. The car has many good aspects and a few minor faults. It is a little underpowered, but for a 1.8 liter engine, it's definitely quick. I ran the car on the track and did a respectable 16.2 sec/quarter mile (Bone Stock!) The car is suprisingly roomy for such a small car. The hatch and the rear folding seats are great for people who have to move fairly large items from time-to-time. The car is absolutely beautiful and with a set of 17" BMW wheels (like the E36 ///M3 wheels or the 17" wheels off of the 3-series make it look mean.) Due to the small engine size and very tight suspension, it handles like a dream. An excellent car for those who want a nice autocross racer/daily driver.

Weakness:

A few weeknesses are the small engine size. I personally like 4-cylinder cars, so the 143 bhp doesn't bother me, but for those who want 6+ cylinders, I would recommend the 323i or the 328i. However, BMW does have a new "ti" coming out that may have a 6-cyl in it, so look out for that one. Another downfall is a very restrictive exhaust system.

Great Car!

Strength:

Fun factor of 9.5 on a scale of 10. Not too many cars that can match the M3's performance and handling in its price range. BMW Engineers did an excellent job of designing and building a high performance car that can get you into a lot of trouble with highway patrol.

Weakness:

-Expensive to maintain when service is required
-Could stand to lose a few pounds
-Tires do not last very long :^)

What more can I say. This is the car that raised the mark for high performance sports cars and sports sedans. All of the written reviews and magazine articles were telling the truth. Overall, the M3 is one of the best handling sports sedans and it has lots of power to play with. Plus, you get the benefits of German engineering and comfort. This car does well picking groceries or going all out the race track.
