Strength:

Speed. Handling. Comfortable.

Weakness:

The cupholders don't hold anything bigger that a 12 ounce soda can. Flimsy. I would rather have storage space in the center console that the movable armrest.

A wonderful car. Fast. Great handling. Great looking. So far I have had no problems with it.

Strength:

Great power, very reliable, very fast, looks good even after 16 years.

Weakness:

No cup holders.

Excellent car. We got it at 265000 miles, and put 25000 miles on it since then. Only problem so far is a broken belt, and needs new shocks and struts. Handles great, and very fast. Awsome car.

Strength:

Heavy solid feel. Smooth acceleration - can't feel a single downshift with heavy acceleration. Very roomy compared to the 3-series. Dual climate zones are very effective. Made it through with two Minnesota snow storms with balding all-season tires and it handled pretty well.

Weakness:

The cupholders and storage are a joke. It has the premium 10 speaker sound system but wish it had Blapunkt. It feels a heavy on tight cornering, but new tires may solve that problem.

Wow! I finally own the dream car I have always wanted and it hasn't let me down at all. It is a 2000 528 that is black with tan leather. It has 35,000 miles. I don't think any sedan has the curb appeal and aggressive look of a 5-series. The "BMW growl" is intoxicating.

Strength:

Brakes; excellent feel and progression, Superd stopping power. Handling; excellent - you know that BMW ad? "Your brain tells your hand to turn the steering wheel... the tyres respond as if they were evesdropping"? Believe it.

Weakness:

Unreliable, underpowered, not particularly well appointed for price.

Overall, unimpressive. The reliability was awful. I could not quite understand how a vehicle purportedly from a luxury marque could have such abysmal reliability. The seat belt anchor broke in my first *month* of driving it (from new!). I could not believe how much engine oil it consumed. It's air conditioning and heating broke down after about 90K kms. Serivce costs were absurd, matched only by the condescending attitude at just about every dealer I tried. To say the least, after enduring in for 5 years, I ditched it and swore off BMW's for life. I shall stick with Infiniti and Lexus products which offer superior performance and way better value

Handling and Performance Comfort (BMW has the best seats in the business) Build quality

Weakness:

Trunk is a bit small for class Interior storage space is sparse Cupholders suck

My 530 never disappoints. Superior handling, excellent performance, and a comfortable (sport seats) and luxurious interior. The only failure in 21,0000 miles is a front turn signal bulb. A great all-around car. I give it a 4 for value because it IS an expensive machine (You want value, buy a Honda).

Superb handeling Responsiveness and connection with the road Nice looks and great engineering

Weakness:

Dear BMW designer, just forget about cup holder if you don't like it and please do not bother putting in a symbolic one! Limited trunk space

Much more fan to drive than our MB E320 with the same luxurious feel. This is a car for those who enjoy driving and feeling connected with the car and the road. If you are numb about driving, go get a Lexus.

Model Reviewed: 540i 6-speed

Strength:

HorsePower and Torque delivered by my foot magnificently. GPS NAV, Stereo, Build quality superior to anyone in class. Almost an M5 for 1/2 the price

Weakness:

I expected gas mileage to be it but all of my BMW's have averaged above the advertised Freeway MPG.

this is the 4th BMW I have owned in the last 2 years. I am a car enthusiast and after trying nice fords and toyotas I wanted a "luxury" car. I started this journey with a 325i loaded with almost all the options, then I added a z3 copue to the mix. I sadly sold them both when I was considering purchasing a new home. I traded them in for a 99 528i 5 speed. I was sort of settling. It was a great car and got awsome mileage but it didn't inspire me. So the opportunity came for me to purchase a 540i 6-speed. I test drove it for a day. It was a difficult decision to make the "jump". but now I have and there is no looking back. All i can say is that it it all the luxury of the 528 and way more power than the Z3 coupe. I know I will be happy.

Strength:

Handling, comfort, great fun to drive.

Weakness:

Window regulators, plastic parts (three cup holders so far), cheap trim, front air dam hits virtually every parking lot stop.

Generally great car. Window regulators do break too often, scheduled service is quite expensive but, it is a BMW.

Model Reviewed: /530i w/Sport Package

Strength:

- Superior handling and extremely responsive around turns. - Maintenance included for 3yr/36k miles. This is a huge benefit considering our maint. bills the first three years we owned our Volvo. - Impeccable finishing on the interior and exterior. - Have 17k miles and only had to go to the shop twice in 1.5 yrs. Once to fix a recall on an engine fan and the second time to get my oil changed. - A real head turner! Yes, people will think you have an "attitude" driving this car. If these "people" had an opportunity to drive it, they too would understand why you enjoy weaving through traffic and accelerating around turns. (<:

Weakness:

- Options/Upgrades were very expensive and made the overall cost of the vehicle quite high. Definitely a pricey car. - Cup holders are indeed a joke (Europeans do not believe in eating/drinking in their cars. You'll only find lots of ash trays) - GPS flip-down screen exposes a cassette player. Sure wish it was a CD-player. You have no choice but to buy the 6-disc changer. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future. - The BMW salespeople will tell you the GPS System can play DVD's and the screen can play TV, however these features are deactivated when the vehicles come to the US. I have yet to confirm this and find someone to activate these features. I've seen kits you can purchase on the internet, but hate to void my ext. warranty.

We took deliver on our 2001 530i in Apr. 2001. Purchase price was out the door w/ext. warranty. We purchased every option available on this vehicle, with the exception of the comfort seats (didn't need the leg extension feature). This luxury car is truly a lot of "F" "U" "N" to drive. My husband loves the Steptronic shifting and often gives me a neck-ache because of the vehicles torque and quick acceleration. The GPS was a nice-to-have, but we do not utilize it but 3-4 times a year. Sure wish we could have used the $2k somewhere else. The upgraded stereo w/DSP is a must. We enjoy listening to music while driving, not driving while listening to music.

Great fun to drive.

Weakness:

Just loaded it onto a tow truck. This is the 4th electrical issue I've had in 2 years and less than 30K miles. My local service department is treating me like a waste of time. I'm ready to sell it and get something more reliable. Anyone interested?

Love driving the car when it is running. Serial electrical problems are making me regret the purchase. I'll probably go with the Lexus next time. I've got a 4Runner with 4x the miles and zero problems.
