Strength:

300 hp Northstar V8, heated seats, LED taillamps are state-of-the-art, the list is endless...I would definitely buy it again. A real head-turner. StabiliTrak & ABS have saved me a couple of times.

Weakness:

FWD, Clumsy...you can lose the tail end on exits (this is no sports sedan). The other day the car stalled while I was waiting at a red light. This has happened 3 or 4 times within the last week. The service engine soon light comes on at will now. I have to hold the key for about 5 seconds before it catches now. I'm told that the crankshaft trigger sensors need to be replaced...and wouldn't you know it, the warranty just expired LAST MONTH! If I had written this review a month ago, it would've gotten a 5/5. But now...with all of these sudden problems, I must reconsider.

This car is almost as good as it can get. I set the cruise control at 90 for 19 hours last month (stopping for gas of course) and it ran strong the entire time. Highway passing is unbelievable....nobody can "stuff" you with this car. (Run off the road by a semi, passed him on the median). 300hp V8 can blow almost anything else away from a stoplight. If you're looking for a premium American luxury sedan, this is it.

Strength:

Looks great sitting still. Very comfortable. Great mileage when it actually ran for a car its size.

Weakness:

Most cars run great if you just keep up with the regular maintenance schedule. This piece of junk doesn't go far enough or run long enough to make to the regularly scheduled maintenance!

This car is outstandingly luxurious to drive, at least when it is running. I bought the vehicle purely and only for long trips. It had about 70K miles at the time. At three months of ownership it overheated the first time. Replaced the radiator. Didn't work; so the dealership replaced the new radiator. Also didn't work. Still didn't work - they replaced the water pump, and... you got it - still no good. Finally they changed the head gasket, and no more overheating. About two weeks after I got it back suddenly it won't start. Back to the garage. Lots of tinkering later I got it back, and it would start after about 30 seconds of cranking. That lasted about a week, then, nothing. Won't start at all. I've driven this POS about 300 miles, and ridden with it on a roll-back to the garage about 1,500 miles. If I could have afforded such a disaster it would be hilarious. Absolute pile of #%*!!

Looks nice, motor (Knock on wood) so far runs good, decent gas milage for a big car

Weakness:

Suspension too tight for a big car stuff falls off the car, lens caps, weatherstrip, etc. Cut corners on the small stuff Computer is innacurate on milage, goes from 5 gallons to empty but still shows 150 miles left to drive

Have had many issues with Dealership, Product and Detroit Customer service Bad detailing (not waxed, keys not ready, razor left on seat, cleaner not wiped off the dashboard, window motor replaced, ac compressor replaced, both lens caps fell off, weather strip fell off Dealer was courteous and friendly but kept screwing up everytime I went in Customer Service in Detroit was a joke, double talk, ambiguous answers and no commitments to help with a solution, basically the relationship is over with Cadillac and you are on your own Dealership is privately owned and from what I can tell isn't going to get any flack from Detroit I am sending in a letter to their GM of the Cadillac division and am sure I will be blown off with extreme prejudice

Looks, fit and finish, paint (Black on Black)

Weakness:

Electrical, passenger window switch and a couple other things that don't really present a problem with driving the car.

Great ride, has 4.9 V8 get 21 mpg on hiway and it uses no oil what so ever between changes. This my second Cad. I bought it used. I would buy it all over again. I have only replaced a water pump in 50,000mi that I have driven it.

Electrical, CD changer never has worked, dealer just gave up on it (read: poor dealer support).

OK except for engine & electrical. When Cad reduced the number of head bolts they knew the engines would blow gaskets at around 100K (read: out of warranty), they want $4k to fix but will not guarantee. Have to wiggle the outside rear view mirror adjust toggle to get the power seat to move. Bad ground? OK, where? In the door or under the seat? No one can find it. My 5th and last Cad – drive Toyota now.

Strength:

Engine, the 4.9L V-8 is very smooth and powerful, has a nice rumble to it, gas mileage is ok, could be better, getting 14 mpg in the city, and 21 on highway

Weakness:

Power antenna is broke, dosent go down all the way, second one to do that, composite fenders bow out a tad when enging is hot

This is my second Cadillac I have owned. This one by far is the best i ever had. Ride is still supurb for a 73K 10 year old car. Suspension is smooth and responds great to road bumps and dips, enging is a screamer, tons of power, not a noise to be heard. Leather seats are still soft and comfortable, makes traveling a great experience.

Strength:

Engine - ride quality, quite comfortable ride. It's been pretty reliable.

Weakness:

Air conditioner controller (the dealer id's it this way and wants 350 to replace it). Storage is a joke compared to the post 2000 model

I've already put 9000 miles on it - pretty tough miles, like the 120 mile dash down the Northeast Extension of the PA turnpike to make an appointment in two and a quarter hours (made it with time enough to hit the can and get gas). The car rides flawlessly and the Northstar is the best engine I've ever driven, let alone owned. I've had two problems - a fuel pump that cost about 850 to replace and the air conditioner is finicky but you can force it on when it doesn't want to on it's own. The gas mileage isn't great, and at the price of premium gas this is troublesome but I still get 20 to 21 on the highway. I have to give it up pretty soon as the company is requiring me to use a company car (from a Caddy to a Buick Centry stings). I'm gonna miss it.

Power, fuel economy, comfortable ride, fit and finish.

Weakness:

A/c controls, slight wind noise. Dealer repairs generally expensive but they do take care of their customers.

I have a 96 SLS that is a great car. Highway fuel economy on trip to LA and back to St. Louis 29.6 mpg and has all the power you will ever need. I use Mobil1 at 5000 mile intervals.

Strength:

The ride is really pleasant. 5 speed tranny is really smooth. Great for cruising with up to five.

Weakness:

My Northstar engine burns one quart every 1500 miles. You have to add it regularly. The way the manufacturer has handled the a serious engine design flaw is pretty bad. I worry about buying another Northstar because there is no evidence the problem was acknowledged or fixed by GM. The heater dash blower blew under warranty. The headlight assembly glue rotted out, and the lens flew off at 70 miles an hour on the driver side and hit the windshield. the entire assembly had to be replace at $300 to me. I superglued the passenger side lens back on before it flew off. The battery shorted out three times under warranty. the interior vanity mirrors are really cheap and come apart with little stress.

The ride is really smooth and quiet. Trunk is large. Sound system very nice. The electrical appliances act up every now and then, in unpredictable ways.
