Strength:

The GS430 from 0-60 can run with the best of the big boys. From 100-130
the GS430 is by far the most responsive compared to BMW 540 and Mercedes 430. If you can afford the extra L-Tune package you find it was well worth it.

Weakness:

Without the L-Tune package you will be subjected to poor handling and less the gratefully braking response. The L-Tune package is the savior of the GS430.

Over-all this is a great car. With the added L-Tune package you can't go wrong.

I have received numbers of emails regarding the modification I have done with my GS430 so far. (1)Intake, K&N filter with heat shield/ECU (2)Precision Industries Torque Converter (3)Eibach ProKit Spring (4)Bilstein Shocks (5)Custom Carbon Fiber Front Strut Bar (5)Borla S/S Exhaust (6)Platinum tint (7)RMM Rear Spoiler.

There are a lot of mod you could do with GS. Supercharger, anti-sway bar, coilover, differential, valve body upgrade, break and etc.

Keep in mind that once you install those aftermarket parts, your warranty goes bye bye. The only aftermarket parts that won't break the warranty is L-Tune (www.l-tuned.com), but you have to install the parts at Lexus dealer. L-Tune spring is actually Eibach ProKit Spring but more expansive. L-Tune shock is made by KYB (only carry 1 year warranty while Bilstein has life-time warranty and also the best quality) L-Tune ECU, IMO, totally useless when you upgrade your suspension system. Your car is already stiff enough that adding an controlling ECU effects in a very limited way. I don't know many people who have L-Tune exhaust so I could not offer any info but I like my Borla a lot! The dyno shows it adds 11 hp! I could keep on talking all kind of modification for weeks!

I highly recommend you to visit the forums at www.superlexus.com and www.clublexus.com where I spend most of the time there. I hope that this post could clear some questions you have. Take care.

Strength:

4.3 Liter V8 and 300 HP. Nav system. The car is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Even though the 17" rims look aggressive, it's still a sedan.... until you hit the throttle. 0 to 60 in under 6. Also, our dealer here in Columbus is fabulous. They have really gone out of their way for me on my tire problem I was having.

Weakness:

The balancing down side of this car is most certainly the 17" Bridgestone RE-030 original tires. These tires in my opinion are not quality tires. They are Z-Rated, with a 45 aspect ratio (my Mustang Cobra has Z Rated 245-45-17 Comp T/A's and I'm on the 2nd set) and yet I have never had one problem with the Comp T/A Z's from BF Goodrich.

The Bridgestone tires are too soft for this cars weight, and started wearing unevenly and making ridiculous road noise and stopping noise at 5,000 miles ordinary wear. I finally could not take it anymore (thought the brakes were bad and "grinding") and took off the RE-030's in favor of the new Bridgestone RE-950 H rated all season high performance tires. Check the ratings on these tires at tirerack.com - users rate them highest among H rated tires. The harder compound tire is quieter (I know, go figure) and actually improved the GS430's handling. To Bridgestone/Firestone's credit, they replaced the tires free of charge due to the "abnormal wear". It was covered under the tire warranty.

Since I don't plan on driving my GS at over 150 MPH, the H rated 130MPH tires are a much better balance between ride comfort, wear, handling, and all around every day use. So far, I love the RE950's. This is the tire Lexus should put on the car stock. I'm happy again. Depending on how the RE-950's work out, I may go back to a Z rated in 30,000 miles, but it will be a BF Goodrich Comp/TA if I do and NOT a Bridgestone.

I had a '95 GS 300 and loved it, except I simply did not like the Inline six - not enough power for a car that heavy. Other than my personal preference of engine, I thought at that time that the GS 300 was the best car I had ever driven - until I took delivery of my GS 430 - complete with Nav system which I love.

This car is nearly beyond description - in literally every category. The power is incredible, the transmission shifts like no other I have ever felt. This car from a mechanical standpoint is flawless. I never thought I would be able to say that about a car, I'm very picky. "Amazing" is a word I can use to describe the GS 430.

After having driven them all - BMW, Mercedes, economy cars, muscle cars, foreign and domestic, this one is a perfect blend of class, performance, and handling. Nothing else has compared. I think I insulted the Mercedes dealer after the test drive when I told them that their E 430 Sport was far inferior to the GS 430 - no comparison. And they wanted more money! For WHAT? I love the GS 430 and appreciate its many options, features, and performance characteristics.

The GS430 out compares all others - I have owned or driven BMW, Mercedes, etc. For sheer fun of driving, I love the Mustang Cobra Convertible,
it's just a fun car and relatively inexpensive to maintain and tune as a hobby car, but I would not give up my GS 430 for any other. Someone asked me that if money were no object, pick three cars. It scared me that I already owned on - the GS 430. It would be one of the three!

Everything. Why get a Bimmer they they don't look or drive as good. Plus some people are talking about the handling of the Bimmer is better than the GS430, but for the amount more that you spend on the bimmer you can go get a $1000.00 Intrax suspention system on your Lex and kill it.

Weakness:

NONE AT ALL

NICE NICE NICE NICE NICE NICE, Very fast, and nice. But... about 2 weeks after getting this sweet car I was confronted by a Benz E55 AMG took me in a race.. SO.... I have the car at my toyota dealer getting every TRD and L-Tuned part they could think of put on it. Including a Stillen Supercharger. We'll see what happens when I find that fella with the E55. I just put some 20" Lowenhart rims on it at they look GREAT.

Strength:

Incredible speed and reliability. Ths car begs to be driven at speeds above 130mph, and I do regularly. My commute has never been more fun!

Weakness:

The suspension is a little soft, very soft in fact. Too much body roll on turns. It took a little getting used to, but now I'm comfortable with the way it handles.

I simply love my GS-430. I bought it as a christmas present to myself last year, and I could not have made a better choice. It is by far the fastest 4 door sedan I have ever driven. I was originally looking at the E55 AMG mercedes. For the money the Lexus blows this car out of the water. I have a fully loaded GS complete with marc levinson audio and navigation for far less than the E55.

For the money, this car standa in a class all it's own. BMW and Mercedes have a lot of catching up to do!

Strength:

Ungodly speed, intuitive controls, somewhat stealthy stubby if not ungainly appearance, killer Nakamichi stereo

Weakness:

It's a costly beast, but most cars are today. Niggling details would be a bit of hesitation upon accelerating, over-sensitive window switches, and lack of a dash-mount cd player.

(1999 Model) - This car is a quiet, comfortable screamer. Set a bead between cars a quarter mile up the freeway, and it scoots into the slot at 90-100mph - they're going to yank my license soon if I don't slow down. I can't believe the fanatical Lexus customer service, after years of dealing with independent shops for other cars. The car has the lights/17"" wheels/Nakamichi package, so it's well-equipped. (I tested the navigation option, and found it cool but overly complex; a solution in search of a problem.) The car seems to define perfection - everything works beyond expectation, and there are few compromises in quality or engineering. There are lots of other options out there from BMW, Audi, etc., but this one is good on execution and service.

Strength:

Powerful, quite, comfortable. Best car and value in its class.

Weakness:

Averages 20 mpg, a bit noisy from the low profile tires, some wind noise (I thought Lexus is meticulous about the wind noise). Ugly plastic buttons.

I thought I would never drive a Lexus until I bought my GS430. It's powerful, quiet and comfortable. The signature Lexus service is awsome. I still have a BMW 540i, X5 3.0 and an Audi A4 2.8 Quatro in my garge, and I like my GS the most. By the way, the insurance permium on the GS is unexpected low too.

Better value than BMW. Much, much, much better than Audi. Service quality is impeccable.
