Strength:

Eye watering performance. Hits as hard as a 911 turbo. Great looks. Turns heads. Classy.

Weakness:

Eats fuel. Handling is ok not great but you have to sacrifice something for 4 doors.

It looks like very few people own this car so I thought I should write for those who may be interested in buying. If you want a sedan and a sports car in one... this is it. This car is very fast and hits hard. Almost as fast as the 911 twin turbo I traded on it. The E55 is so powerful it will smoke the tires and do a nice slide when you disengae the stability mgmt. no problems to date. Car get's a lot of looks I'm surprised how many people know what it is. Owned alot of porsches and this is the first benz and it was well worth it. Handling is ok, but car is best in a straight line and highway cruise. A fabulous piece from AMG. Would reccomend to those who can afford.

Strength:

good looking car for our business purpose. Smooth driving during rain.

Weakness:

Tele Aid Navigation system, audio connection system, SRS & seat back problem, crank pulley in 11,000 miles so far. We have not yet what the next problem will occur

Thanks we leased it for 5 years with ext warranty, after that we definitely return it to dealer. The 1st year we have been visiting the workshop for more than 7 times and the car had to stay over 1 week at workshop. It started from Tele Aid navigation malfunction on the instrument cluster, replaced instrument from Germany. Then the audio connections were error several times, the alarm system triggered error signals several times to Tele Aid Response Center, our credit card were charged automatically for the airtime even though we did not use the service and annual fee $ 240 was not included the air time. We feel inconvenience for their service. We recommend to lease it instead of buy it.

Look of class with out looking rich with money to waste, Sound, Handling,

Weakness:

the single Navigation/CD slot. You can't use the single CD when you use the navigation.

I love this car. I added a little thump to the trunk to make the system sound better. It handles very well, nice styling, smoooooth acceleration. I can't wait to use it in the winter. I got the Starmark warranty so the only thing I have to do is breaks and tires for the next 4 years. Even though the car is 2 years old and with 40k miles you would never know it. Best car I have ever owned.

Strength:

Car is very powerful, stylish, quiet and refined. Comfortable seating with lots of front and rear passenger room. BIG trunk. Rain-sensing wipers are far superior to BMW. Very smooth ride. Feels very safe.

Weakness:

Radio is too aweful to even explain. Transmission is unforgiving. I'm concerned about long-term quality. What's up with the cup-holder??!!

Nice car over-all, and sport model turns heads. 430 motor has strong acceleration, and strong handling. Feels very safe. On the other hand, the car has under 20k miles and already transmission seals have needed replacing. Bose system is the worst I've ever owned. It frequently cannot talk with trunk-based CD changer, and sounds aweful in general. Friend with e320 has similar problems. Infrared remote is weak and requires close proximity.

Model Reviewed: E320 4matic Wagon

Strength:

Good handling, safe, solid, I like a station wagon.

Weakness:

Reliability, poor design of dashboard, shoddy. Inferior Navigation system It has been in the shop for at least 15 visits in 40,000 miles for 4 or 5 new sensors, new seatbelt, new dash, new trim, repairs to rear seat which never worked properly from new, new radio, new cd player, TWO new keys (fell apart), new computer, new door hinges. Never again - I am sick of going into the shop, don't need the hassle. It's a lovely car to drive, very convenient in all weather, but the unreliablility outweighs its convenience. I would recommend it to anyone apart from this. The shop is fine, but parts often take weeks to arrive, (the trim took 3 months) and they seem to have to take the car to bits before they know what to order and how long it's going to take, a huge inconvenience. After 4 years I am still having to hunt for some switches - it's not an intuitive car, and the cruise control switch is ridiculously placed and too easily confused with the turn signal. The Nav system is very poor compared with the BMW and Lexus models

My first and last Mercedes. Bought it because I wanted a station wagon it was supposed to be the best. What a disappointment. It drives well, holds the road well, superb in snow and ice, especially with the ice tires I put on it in winter, is excellent on long journeys. Handling so much better than all those SUVs. Still some irritating design features, see below. The heating and ventilation system is okay except you cannot get cool air from the vents and warm on your feet like in the Volvo and Range Rover. Top of the line Bose radio is not worth the money, Nav system not very good either. I had anticipated keeping this car for a very long time - I am tired of it after 4 years because of the constant trips to the shop. Very relieved I decided to buy the extended warranty! At least I've only wasted time on repairing it, not my money!

2003 Range Rover, it's super, quite unlike the old, bad Range Rovers. However, it's not a station wagon. I also use a V70 Volvo, which is very light feeling after the Mercedes.

Not much given the money I paid for it.

Weakness:

Suspension, telephone, no possibility of adding navigation system, the MB company itself by putting profit before customers. I will never, ever, buy another MB and will adverise aggainst them whenever I can!

This car has had problems from day one. Suspension (the car pulls to the right), the telephone system has never worked satisfactrily and the navigation system can not be installed. A sad story all together for this once proud car. I am taking them to court. If you have any similar story, or have taken them to court, love to hear from you.

Strength:

Easy and fun to drive. Comfortable even for tall people.

Weakness:

Reliability. In the last year, many things have started to fail. Most of the plastic light bulbs housings are cracking and falling apart. One of the running lights fryed itself at a cost of $500. The air-fuel mixture sensor went out for another $500. I've spent close to $3,000 in the last year on relatively minor fixes. I'm hoping that nothing major goes wrong anytime soon, but I have a feeling something big is going to break. What happened to the quality of Mercedes? I've heard from many others that are having similar problems with Mercedes in the last five years. I'm disappointed enough that I'm probably going to buy a Lexus in the near future. I just don't have the time to waste on taking this car to the shop. I thought it would go at least 100,000 miles before I started having regular repairs. Mercedes really needs to refocus on quality. I am very disappointed.

Good all around sedan: comfortable, good power, handles well. Unfortunately, it is starting to fall apart at 5 years of age with only 48,000 miles on it. I expect american cars to have a short life span, but I thought german and japanese cars were higher quality and lasted longer.

Strength:

Solid feel. Nice ride.

Weakness:

Electrical/software problems, and the lack of support from MB, together with there arrogant additude towards the customer. No problem taking my money.

Car has 1 electrical problem after another. The electronic transmission struggles to deside what gear it wants to be in. The electronic accelerator has such a delay when accelerating hard from a stop, that it is actually dangerous. My radio cuts out at will, my seat belt restraints malfunctioned, the alarm went off two times when the car was in the garage. The radio has went on when the car is parked, locked, with out a key. etc. etc. The car has been in the shop at least 7 times. They have replaced the radio, upgraded software many times, changed the seat belt module. And the car still is not right. If MB wants to charge 50K+ (take it or leave it), they should get it right, or refund my money. I would like a business that I could sell products for 50K+ that did not work properly!
