Strength:

Precision handling and speed. Service at Phoenix Motors was great. DON'T ever buy from Schumacher Mercedes, Scottsdale...sales people prejudge. We went to Schumacher in shorts and T-shirt, they ASSUMED we didn't have money, we also looked young for our age. Went to Phoenix Motors and they even beat Schumacher's price!!

Weakness:

Don't park too close to the curb, it'll tear the fender off. The front end lowers itself when in parked position, but doesn't raise when reversing out of a parking space.

Wide rear took a bit of getting used to when making turns. Not the most comfortable ride for long distance road trips.

Don't buy the car if you can't stand seeing your car dinged and scratched often. One of our friends bought one, they can't bear to drive it anywhere either.

Overall..loved the car. We babied it, the car never saw a raindrop. It had the same power and speed as the Porche however, Porche handled tighter as a true sports should. SL500 is more luxury than sporty, but a great car no matter how you look at it.

We ended up selling it only after a year because people get jealous of those who drive beautiful expensive cars. We've never owned a car that has been dinged and scratched more often than the SL500 (not even the Porche). Being a black car, every little flaw showed up. We sold it with 3,500 miles on it at 1 yr old because we couldn't stand to take it any place where valet parking wasn't available.

Similar Products Used:

Porche 911 - Porche was sportier.
Mercedes CLK 430, great car, no complaints but still liked SL500 best.
