Avenger
Strength:
Styling, good gas mileage, and with true snow tires fitted, the car is surprisingly good in snow. We live on a mountain, and it does great all winter.
Weakness:
brakes are expensive to maintain, sometimes hard starting, picky about maintenance on time, weak automatic transmission. This is my wife's car, and she loves it. When she wore out her first Avenger at 100k miles, she ran out and bought a second one. The car is an ES, with the V6, 16" wheels and an automatic. She will probably buy a third when this one wears out. She likes the large doors, sporty styling and large trunk for a sports type car. Similar Products Used: 2nd Dodge Avenger and one Dodge Neon |

The styling of this car is a definite plus. Gets looks from young and old alike. People are always asking me what kind of car it is. I have the 17 inch premium rims on it. Corners great w/ the Goodyear Eagles on it. Good in the snow. I had it going 120 on the highway and it didn't even flinch. The car seems to like speed and sticks to the road. The mileage is great for a car of it's size (25-30 mpg easy). The large interior just wraps itself around you making you feel you're in a cockpit. Real nice finish with the Dodge Indy Red paint job.
Weakness:
Windows rattle a little too much. The 4-banger was a little underpowered even with a 5-speed but I fixed that with some new plugs, wires and an intake - it goes good now and I'm nowhere near finished with the mods. The heater takes awhile to warm up. I'd definetly recommend this car to anyone who wants affordable style. The first night I had it out, it was sitting in a parking lot and a group of girls said "wow! who's car is that??" Needless to say, I jumped on the chance to say it was mine! A nice car, alot of aftermarket performance parts and just fun to drive. Similar Products Used: Grand AM GT. |

Nice looking car. Looks more expensive than it really is. Quite roomy for a sporty car. Very good gas mileage.
Weakness:
Increadibly bad reliability. The following is a list of repairs it has needed. The brakes are very poor (replaced at 50k) and they need to be replaced again now at 100k. Within 10k of being replaced they were already starting to warp again. I had to replace the bearings in for three wheels. Since this is a Japanese hybrid; I could not simply repack See above. This car has been very dissapointing and has basically turned me off from ever buying anotherAmerican car again. On top of the maintenance problems I have listed above, this car is noisy at speed and has the worst heating/ventilation system I have ever seen! I never abused this car; these kinds of problem in a car that is less than five years old is unforgivable. No wonder Chrysler is going down the toilet!!! NONE!!!!
Weakness:
1 1/2 Year after purchasing the vehicle I had to replace the Head Cylinder Gasket ($720). Brakes are terrible replaced 5 times in last 4 years. Rear and fron Axels have also been replaced. I found that Dodge Servicing is terrible. I think I've been taken advantage of. Must recent problem to date, you won't believe it, I just had the Head Cylinder Gasket replaced AGAIN, along with a new thermostat, spark plugs, and timing belt ($1471). One day after the repairs engine light was on return to dealer and was told it was the compressor box (what is that???) (DODGE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE). Third day after servicing car still not running properly, return to dealer. NOW they tell me that my strut tower is bad. I THINK I'M BEING BULL!@#*!@#!!!!!! This car has been nothing but a HEADACHE. Take my advise look elsewhere for a car. Definitely not the DODGE AVENGER. Similar Products Used: None |

looks, definately looks. Nice looking car for the money, it gets a lot of heads turning.
Weakness:
Well the car aint perfect. most of my gripes are only minor and don't amount to much. First, not much power (I am looking into upgrades though, what do you expect from a 4 cyl though). Second, it rattles a bit more than it should (I think this is because my spoiler is loose and the washers shake, i am looking into that). Those are the main ones, oh yeah, chrysler service does indeed blow gorillas. This car plain looks like it has balls. Too bad it is just average in this department, even a little underpowered. I bought it with aftermarket 17" aluminum 5 spoke wheels and a spoiler of a 95 or so mustang. These additions definatly make it look even more sportier than it already is. Pop the sun roof and roll. The factory sound system will suffice for the average user, but i like good sound so i spent a little on that. It has good gas milage, it is fast for a 4 cyl (still not fast enough, of course). I am happy with it. Similar Products Used: an 86 buick skylark baby |

nice looking, safe, affordable, like the body style on the inside.good gas milage! good pickup for a 4 cyl.
Weakness:
brakes SUCK!, rearview is no good, paint cracking, tint peeling, transmission went bad, new brake pads every 3-6 months, my key wont come out of the egnition! car just shuts down in parking lots and wont turn back on, plus the key will get stuck at the same time. overheats, battery cables mented to the top of the hood, doesnt start up well in the morning, wants to die first thing in the morning. rattles like crazy!! thers a howling sound coming from the passanger seat on the freeway no good in the cold weather.......the list goes on and on! this car is junk. but i guess you get what you paid for. i change the oil and check it regularly, yet ive almost killed my engine many times because the damn thing burns up oil like crazy! BRAKES!! this is the worst thinga bout this car. i have to get new brake pads every 3-6 months because they just dont last. the rear brakes dont even work on a hill! it is badly designed to see out the back, so you never know if your gonna hit something cause you cant see out the damn thing! ive gone to gas stations to get something, and my car will just die right there and i cant get the key out. the main problem ive had with my car is that the key gets stuck in the ignition and it WILL NOT! come out. ive taken the car to the dodge service and theyve put in a new egnition cylander, rerouted the wires and all sorts of stuff and it still gets stuck. (its not because my wheel is locked up or anything obvious and stupid like that!!) it just wont come out until the car cools down. (dodge service is nice though) it didnt rattle when i got it, but now it rattles like crazy and sounds like its falling apart, which it is!every time I turn around, there is something wrong with this car. but its for sale if you wanna buy it! email-quinn@lankaster.com Similar Products Used: 1988 lincoln town car-this lincoln looked horrible! but is still started up every morning, ran well and was a much better car than this avenger. |

Straight out pimp ride, we're talkin' girlie magnet. Top speed is incredible for a car without speed upgrades.
Weakness:
This car has no balls and its really hard to find any accessories or upgrades for it and the power windows are weak. This car is strictly for the big pimpin' so keep it off the street racin scene. My Arrelli Assassyn dubs 17", tc spoiler, and 3000$ (JL, Alpine, and PPI) system with DVD make for many ladies in my car but i dread those times when a hooked up civic or eclipse roll up next to me at a stop light cuz i know i'm about to get toasted. If you want the looks buy this car but if ya want aftermarket upgrades get a freakin civic. Similar Products Used: Looks better than Eclipse, Grand Am, Camaro, Firebird, but has no chance in a street race. |

Avenger
Strength:
The power mirrors work, cruise control works.
Weakness:
Where should I start? Tranny has been replaced 3 times, needs to be done again because it doesn't shift gears properly. Trans line leaks. The rear wheel bearing went out @ 34000 miles. The driver's side power seat does not work. Awful lighting in the car-no dome light, just mirror lights. The battery in the car is good, but for no apparant reason, it dies periodically. Sometimes it appears to have died, but then seconds later it starts. The starter went out already. Car has NO power at all, it could not get out of its own way. Anyone who thinks that this car could take a camaro (or even a mustang) is not driving the same kind of car that I am. This car could not take anything unless it is either a yugo or doesn't have a motor in it! The left front ball joint went out and it already needs a new one less than 4000 miles later. The steering makes funny noises. Get this...The door handle fell off. I went to open the door after leaving Taco Bell, and the door handle fell off in my hand. I didn't pull hard or anything, I simply opened it like normal, and it was unlocked, so it should have opened right up. The extra large coke that I had bought wound up all over the driver's side window. This car has AWFUL gas mileage. The motor ticks. The gas powered 2.5 liter V-6 sounds like a diesel truck. Finally, in order to use the stock remote entry, you have to be pointing it at the car, and standing right beside of the car. I bought an '85 Pontiac 6000 for $9.15, and it was a better buy than this car. It had more power and more torque, being a 2.5 Liter 4-cylinder. It was better on gas. The door handle survived the car being jumped multiple times. It could move out of its own way. I would trust a $9.15 car more on long trips than I would this car. Finally, I bought this car at Barrington Dodge, in Barrington, IL. They screwed me over big time! I would NOT recommend anyone to go to this dealer if it was the last place for 10,000 miles. Awesome looks. Not a popular car where I live so I get a lot of "What's that?" looks. I love that.
Weakness:
Pretty much gutless. I have the four with a manual tranny and that's barely OK for me. I decided against the 6 cylinder then because I wanted a manual shifter which does allow for more flexibility. All looks but no go. Darn! BUT the price is right for a great looking car. Similar Products Used: None |
