Strength:

Great Motor, Handling, braking distance/feel and Interior and exterior design

Weakness:

Brake pads! These I will say are junk. My ford dealership replaced my rotors @ 15,000 with no questions asked. I have 32000 now and just replaced the pads they used with some higher quality.

Wow it is amazing reading the different reviews! It is either love or hate. I have really enjoyed our Focus, it is unfortunate to hear the problems some have experienced. I am wondering if it is car or dealer issues per se that have turned some off? I love the power, design, ergonomics and layout of this car and would recommend purchasing one if you are in the market for a compact car. I drove the Honda, Neon, and Toyota and none of them compared.

handles well, economical.

Weakness:

Tire wear

Grinding noise from tires after tire rotation at 21,000 miles. Dealer said ties were "chopped" and new tires needed even though tread depth was still substantial. 1st car I ever owned that didn't get over 40,000 miles on set of tires.

re. premature tire wear... ------- 2000-2004 Ford Focus Rear Tire Wear 17 October 03 Robert Lane Ford Motor Company told dealers that they may need to replace the rear upper control arms on Ford Focus models. The models include: 2000 through 2004 Focus Sedan, Wagon, ZX3 and ZX5 series. According to Ford, consumers have been experiencing more than normal wear to the inside of the rear tire(s). Should owners experience such a condition, then they should bring their vehicle in to a Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealership for a possible adjustment. Ford will check the rear camber and, if possible, make an adjustment. If an adjustment to the vehicle's rear camber is necessary beyond the negative end of specification, then the dealership will need to source replacement rear upper control arm(s)." The Ford Motor Company parts service kit required for this replacement is 3S4Z-1A154-AA. Ford will perform the replacement of parts under provisions of the bumper to bumper warranty under TSB T31305. This is considered a "silent recall" where upon Ford may NOT notify owners of this condition. Owners should contact Pat Hoye (313) 248-8336 at Ford World Headquarters or click here for a Ford executive assigned to your area. Owners are advised to have their vehicles inspected before the warranty period expires. It's your money - demand a better product and Ford will listen. Updates at BlueOvalNews.com

Strength:

Good Sound system, rode good, took curves and hills very well. Had a big trunk.

Weakness:

Radio broke 2 times and had to be replaced, wore tires badly, brakes squeaked constantly

Overall it was a pretty decent car. I would not recommend anyone buying this car or shopping from this dealership. Although a pretty good car, it had lots of little quirks about it.

Strength:

Has a spacious trunk..and everyone knows that because the trunk will fly open at any given time allowing them all to check it out.

Weakness:

Oh wow..the entire car?

I can not believe I threw money out the window by investing in this car. $1,500 in brakes, tires and rotors...countless money on trying to determine why the engine light stays on. I still sound like a freight train trying to stop, that is IF the car doesnt cut off. The outside trim has fallen off..so has the rearview mirror. The trunk latch doesnt work. And my windshield has a crack down the center! I wish I had never stepped foot in that dealership. What a waste of money!

It looks nice, and the sound system is ok

Weakness:

Depreciates terribly, you wind up in a major hole with this car within the first year of ownership! Tire wear, and yes, tires are rotated regulary, I also baby and take care of my car. (actually drive it as if it will fall apart if I go over a bump too hard, probably would)

If I have to buy another round of tires I'm going to rip someones head off!!!! I highly suggest anyone who considers this car to reconsider or you'll go broke buying tires. Car just got an alignment 2 weeks ago, complained about tire wear(cupping) after the rotation and so the dealer rotates them again realigns out of spec and now I have 2 alignment bills! High price junk is what this car is, I've had problems with the front breaks constantly warping, with less than 1000 miles on the car, sensors going off and having to be replaced 3x, the car not holding an alignement, well it's never aligned cause the tires keep wearing, and a constant humming sound in the back rear that only seems to bother me! I can't wait to get rid of this piece of high price for junk garbage, might never buy a ford product again

Honda Civic(should have kept, would still be driving it today and not be in a major whole with this darn focus!
