Buyer Beware-new models are never safe. I was in an accident in this car. My hand was burned to the second and third degree. It is scared forever. It could have easily been my face. The airbag that was being investigated for a recall started a fire on my hand. The week before it was brought in for recalls, I asked about the airbag investigation. The wipers fell off hitting a car once. The brakes had all kinds of problems. Forget about driving in the rain, when the brakes got wet they were scary. It scares me that many new drivers are buying these cars. I hope they see how many recalls are being done. Ill never buy ford again.my car was totaled in a 25 mph crash

Strength:

Handling, room, @60+ (yrs) it is one of a few cars that I can get in and out of with grace. Six-changer CD sounds good too!

Weakness:

Needs more insulation (mostly tire noise), and a release for the rear door at the door. I leave the key in most of the time so I am constantly returning to the front door to release the rear door.

Great handling car with good room for sub-compact. High seating makes exist much easier. The wagon has lots of room almost like a mini-mini-van. A litte too much road noise on some road surfaces. These are preformance tires and are expected to be a litte louder. I expect the tires to wear out faster because Preformance tires have low wear ratings because of the type of rubber that grips so well. The brakes will also wear faster because the pad is made for fast stops. My friends say don't replace with ford pads and they will last much longer. The way this car handles you will be driving harder than ever before. I think that is the problem some are having on snow and ice. No problems so far. Alternatives were 5-10K more.

Fast, roomy, and great gas mileage.

Weakness:

I wish the cupholders were bigger. Besides that it is a great car.

I love this car! It is great for a college student or someone that drives a lot. I am constantly driving everywhere across the state and the Focus gets great gas mileage. Plus, it is so roomy with a huge trunk. I got a really good deal when I bought my Focus. Mine was originally a program car so I got mine at a discount and in really good condition.

Strength:

Cost. Cute car. Apparently fuel efficient, however, I havn't been able to drive it much because it has been in the shop for 50% of the time that I have owned it. I have yet had to put gasoline in it. I drive a loaner more.

Weakness:

Quality Assurance. Has Ford heard of it? Realiability and Dependability. Service Department could use some proper management. Can Don Chalmers live up the the "President's Award"? We'll see.

The Ford Focus I purchased had a manufacturing defect. Parts of the body structure were rubbing together. Additionally, the wheels were unbalanced and caused the front steering wheel to shake. Don Chalmers corrected the shaking wheel by balancing and rotating the front to the rear. They corrected the noise by seperating the "stessed" metal by beating with a hammer and metal rod. This caused damage to the exterior surface such as dents and cracked paint. I am unhappy with the purchase and service.

Save Your time, money and sanity. DO NOT PURCHASE this car... I had the car for a week (BRAND NEW) The first of 9 Count them 9 recalls happened. The brakes and rotors had to be replaced at 21,000 miles. When the rotors were replaced the mechanic told me that FORD had designed them to wear out. this cost a whopping 580.00 dollars. the engine started acting up BECAUSE there was a hole in the fuel line. Then the bushals (sic), wheel bearings and tires had to be replaced at 25,000 miles. I bought this car BRAND NEW and I had to replace the battery and the brake lights. I do not drive bad,I baby this car. Now to top it off at a stop the RPM's will go crazy and acting like the car wants to die.JUST AT A RED LIGHT. this stupid car only has 41,000 miles on it. I am trading it in and PITY THE FOOL that buys it. Or any other Focus for that matter.

Weakness:

Nothing that I've found

I love this car!! This is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned! It gets excellent gas mileage, does great in the winter, and has tons of power!!! I have never been so happy with the service that I recieve at the dealership that I bought it at. This car has made me believe me believe in Fords again. And recently I have started working here. So if you are interested or have any questions about the focus or any other product call me. Also I have had this car for almost 1 year now, it has 19,500 miles on it, I have not had a single problem and I have never had to replace the brakes like everyone is saying. My advice is to buy, its a great car.

Strength:

roomy interior, great for a small family comfy ride good radio well equipped VS price big trunk handling + fun to drive great looking car

Weakness:

dealership service could be better... interio fit + finish below par noise over 60 mph poor quality tires (rough and noisy) unsure reliability

This is my 2nd Focus. The 1st one was a 2000 ZX3. My first Focus had many recalls but everything else was fine. Although no recalls have been made for my 2002 Focus SE, different problems have appeared, such as a leaky head gasket, a 5 speed transmission that just won't go in 1st gear unless I use my 2 arms (has been fixed), and when waiting at idle at a stop light, the engine RPM seems to want to go below idle and stall, although it hasn't actually stalled yet. Great for Canadian winters because the car is high off the ground, and inside, big radio and heating knobs make it easy to drive with gloves. There are more rattles in this Focus than in the previous one, but overall I still like this car very much and I hope it will serve me well. However, once this one is paid off, I will not buy another Ford product. There are better cars out there for a just a few more $$.

I hate this car!!! I believe I am up to about 12 recalls now. The recalls have been for everything you can think of. I am planning on getting rid of it very soon. I honestly would have bought a new car after the first year, however being a full-time student with a part-time job, I just couldn't get rid of it that soon. I am a meeting with the regional director for the dealership where I purchased it next month. I am hoping for some type of reimbursement...to say the least, I deserve it!

Strength:

Better gas milage than a V8 SUV. Looks kinda cool from the outside

Weakness:

Roaters manufactured to thin, poor gas milage, noisy, too many recalls, and uncomfortable seats

Have to replace the drums after every normal break job (20-30K miles). The dealer wont own up to the problem and corporate brushed me off. Car is load, seats are uncomfortable, gets terrible gass milage for its size. Don't do it
