Great on Gas, Roomy, Huge trunk
Weakness:
Brake Problems, engine noise, seat belt problems etc...recalls every month! I like many others, picked the Focus because of it's look and because it was great on gas...but if I could go back in time I would change my mind! I have had nothing but problems with this car since day one. The latest problem is new front brakes for the second time in 50,000km...apparently Ford thinks it's my driving even though I only drive in the city. I wouldn't recommened this car to my worst enemy...I'm looking forward to giving the death trap back to the dealership! Similar Products Used: Saturn, Grand Am |

Nice steering Radio is great handles on road
Weakness:
engine eletrical battery connections lcd on clock hatch back lock location of oil filter and lots more I purchaced this car because I liked the look and the way it handled at the time. We only drove it for a month when we found a hose in the engine that was melted and caused the engine to fail when you stopped accelerating. So we took it in and they could not help us they claimed that it was not covered under the warrenty. So my husband fixed it. Then The latch on the hatch did not close. So we took it in they said bieng that it is a recall they woukd fix it. Well that was once and I have taken it in 4 times since to have it fixed at other dealers and it still does not work. The light on the dash board works when it wants. There is also a rattle noise that the dealer said is normal. I have had so many problems I can't even right them all. I will never buy another ford. Great on gas, comfortable, great saftey features (RE: for children).

Far too many problems, stalling, clutch, windows, trunk deck lid. Cute car, after 35 days of having the car, it went in for pulsating clutch! Bad presure plate, two months later, went in for loose stering wheel. The bolt was not tightened, it has been in 10 times in one year! Stalling problems, noisy windows, trunk problems, and still plusating clutch! This is my first and last time owning a ford! Very bad made car, I do not trust it. Very hard to control a car that stalls while driving it down the road! Similar Products Used: none |

Seat belt locations to far back. I've own a 2000 ZX3 with a 5 speed. So far I've been extrememly happy with how the car has performed. I've been reading a lot of reviews on this particular vehicle and I agree an most of it, such as the seat belt location and the clutch not being real smooth. (the transmission shifts awesome though) So far I've seen people either having a perfect vehicle or a nightmare. Most of the time the engine is not specified, is it the SPI 2.0 or the Zetech 2.0 having a lot of these problems? I'll let you know more after I've owned it for a while. But for now, a 2000 ZX3 with 16,558 miles for $7500 has been the best bang for my buck! Similar Products Used: never owned a ford before |

This car is very uncomfortable to drive in and has caused me more grief then it is worth. The first 4 months were okay. I had a problem with the check engine light coming on, but was fixed promptly. This happen on the way home from the dealership. Since then I have had it into dealerships after dealerships with the complaint of severe vibration and road noise coming out the bottom near my feet. I have had no success at fixing the problem and now I have severe tire wear on one tire. This is all after on 23000 km's. I do not feel safe and havinf a new baby on board, I'd rather stay home then enjoy life as a new mom showing off our Pride and Joy.I would never reccomend this car to ANYONE! tires, service at ford dealership, has a bigger windshield wiper fluid tank then gas tank I would tell anyone not to buy the car. I have had one recall, a sensor went bad, fuel pump was replaced, and gas tank was replaced all before 30,000 miles. The car makes a loud noise driving at 55 miles. Also the tires wont keep air. optional 6 CD stereo is VERY expensive, should have option for better wheels. I've been driving a Ford Focus since they arrived in Canada in 2000. My first car did have a few recalls but it was no big deal. Overall i'm really happy with the way that my car drove, stopped, handled and carried all of my gear (i'm a 24 year old fire fighter) to and from work. I traded my 2000 in just recently and got a 2003 model, fully loaded. (it even has heated seats and traction control.) So far i'm really happy with this one. I'll keep driving Fords until i have a bad experience - and that i don't expect to happen any time soon. Similar Products Used: Ford Contour |

The Blind Spots I just love my car and the handling of it. I have not yet experienced any difficulty with my car to date and would highly recommend the car. I sure feel sorry for all those who purchased 2000 year models. I just find it hard to believe that there were so many problems with the car. I guess the adage that you should not buy a car in it's introductory year is true. Similar Products Used: Ford Contour Toyota Celica |

Brakes need to be replaced every 15K miles Constant Rattling in the engine 10 recalls already POOR GAS MILEAGE Unfortunately after the dealership bought the first vehicle back, I let them convince me into buying another one, because that was just a "fluke"- Ford allowed for some incentives if I purchased another Ford, so I thought there couldn't be 2 cars out there this bad.... WAS I EVER WRONG!!! The first one would just NOT start after a few stop and go trips, this one I have had the brakes replaced 3 times and am ready to have them replaced again-- after only 41K miles!!! The dealership tells me, that they only last around 15K miles! Wouldn't it be nice if they pointed that out when they sell the car! There is a constant rattle that they have attmepted to fix 3 times without success, now there are two new recalls- that makes 10!! The dealership has been great in attempting to deal with the problems, but they can only do so much to correct a faulty vehicle! I would NEVER recommend this vehicle to anyone! |

good breaking good sound system pretty car okay acceleration
Weakness:
sounds like it's been beaten almost to death electric problems When I bought my focus I was very happy. I'm a sixteen year old and got it as a birthday present. It's a zippy little car with great breaks, and pretty decent acceleration. After 1 month though it began revving and the electic power (sometimes the steering) would all go dead and then revive. That was the groundwire- it took us 3 visits to fix that one. Now it seems to come up with a new problem, it rumbles constantly making this noise like the car is about to fall apart at any moment. My friend bought a car for 99$ that runs better. The interstate gas mileage is HORRIBLE! I just found of a recall though, which I think suits my car. Hopefully this one is free since we have a full waranty with ford, but everything seems to cost the same. Similar Products Used: escort |
