Room and mileage

Weakness:

Not enough time today. Ive only got 2 hours.

What a great car this was at first. It had the room, the mileage and style we were looking for. We knew it didnt have a lot of power. What would you expect for a small engine like this? No issues there. BUT THE BEARINGS!!! Were at 41000 and on our third set. We had the first recall work done. Then, a week after we got the notice regarding ongoing issues with the rear wheel bearings, they went again. Sure, the dealer reluctantly replaced them at no cost, again. Without any prior indication that there was a problem (no grinding or other noise) the bearings started grinding and CLUNKING. Within 35 miles of the start of this noise, the rear wheel nearly FELL OFF! Im not exaggerating. Ive never actually seen the effects of bad wheel bearings. They usually go over a period and indicate when theres a problem starting by sounding strange. I pulled the car over on the way to the dealer and grabbed the wheel. The rim moved almost an inch side to side! Good lord, if my wife was on her way to daycare with my 2 year old daughter, the tire couldve fallen right off! "Glad to see youre so concerned for our safety after the whole Explorer issue, Ford", he said with extreme sarcasm.

Brakes and rotors bad at 19,000 Trunk wouldn''''t open at 18,000 Rear shocks towers rattled and to be replaced at 17,000 Cruise Control died at 9,000 - took a week to fix! Many Many recalls I have 8 receipts for FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily

This car is has been a major disappointment. There has been many recalls! I just took it in last week for a recall of a recall. I got a glossy pamphlet called "The Focus smooth ride program". Which was a recall to replace the rear bearings again because the winter salt in our area would cause the bearings to fail. I bought this car for my Wife as a Sweetest Day present. Unfortunately it has not been so sweet. I''''ve told my Wife that I was going to attach a capitol R after the Focus nameplate on the rear end which would stand for RECALL!

Well, what can I say about the Focus that hasn''t been written already? I went to buy my first new car to go with the start of my first new job. I looked at all the several makes and models in the same class. After looking at Corolla''s and Civic''s I fell in love with the Focus. The car was wonderful at first. But I had to take it into the dealer''s the first month because of a faulty O-ring that prevented the air-conditioner to work. I was very happy with the car but I took it in numerous times, so much so that I cannot remember how many times I went. The car was severely underpowered and there were many, many recalls on it. I had many problems with it. The windows made squeaking noises when rolled down. I put about 42000k miles on it in less than 2 years and that car felt like it was 6 or 7 years old. The car was well cared for but that didn''t help any. I was so scared of my warranty running out and taking it in to the dealer so much that I ended up purchasing the extended warranty. There were many rattles when driving the car that it would drive anyone crazy. So, I finally gave in and traded it in for 6500 and owing about 9500 on it. I went out and bought a 2002 honda civic EX. I am very happy with it but I am glad to take the hit on my trade in just for the peace of mind that this car will last me for at least 10 years.

Very quick econo-car Great on gas As stated good sounds Tight Handeling Does really good cookies (rental) Huge Trunk!! A lot of people notice it and say it looks cool. Neat little things like when you turn off the back power windows at night the lights in the power window buttons in the back turn off too... Oh yeah the dimming dome/mood light. You can also get lots of cool hop-up''s for this car. Very roomy for a small car

Weakness:

I had it for 4 hours and when I parked and shut off the engine, it wouldn''t start again. A plug under the hood wasn''t plugged in all the way. My head gasket was leaking at 10,000 miles. Didn''t cost me anything to get it fixed. Not a lot of room in the back for big people, but it''s a compact car. (I''m 6''6" tall)

Hey it''s a nice car that gets good gas mileage. The Sound System was a nice bonus. I have had to take my car in, but this is the first new car I have ever owned and it is so cool to walk away from a service department without having to pay for anything. The dealer I went through also provided a rental at no cost while they worked on mine. The rental car that I got was also a focus, but it really sucked! It had a vibration in the front end and it also sounded like the wheel barrings were going out, but people beat the heck out of rentals and I kinda had some fun with it to... ;-)

Did you know the Ford Focus made it to Car and Driver''s tens best list this year? I can''t say that I agree. I''ve found that owning a Focus is one of the ten best ways to accumulate recall notices and spend time in a dealer''s waiting room. Initially, I was amazed by the Focus''s combination of style, content, and price. It offered a high level of standard features, contemporary engine technology, and good fit and finish of both the exterior panels and interior trim. So, I bought one. The honeymoon ended after about six hours of ownership. That''s when I discovered the AC knob was broken. So, the next day I took the car back to the dealer. They were actually going to charge me for a rental car! Next, I began noticing a strange noise. The noise sounded like a cross between an exhaust leak and a diesel engine. Turns out it is the manual transmission. This transmission is one of the loudest, coarsest, most impresise pieces of garbage I''ve ever used. This of course, is perfectly normal according to Ford and they are unable and unwilling to correct the problem. Since then I have experienced the following problems: *Creaking Front Suspension *Disappearing Coolant(No Problem Found) *Leaking Power Steering Pump *Power Windows that make screeching sounds during hot weather *A grinding HVAC fan And finally, bad rear wheel bearings, for which I have just received the recall. At this point, I''ve had enough and would like to trade the car in. Unfortunately, it''s resale value is virtually worthless. So, unless you really enjoy driving a dealer''s rental car, consider something else.

Strength:

smarter, buyer beware, but quite frankly I feel like I was screwed. The outside features, radio, etc.

Weakness:

Just about everything else.

I''d have to agree with most of the reviews I''ve read so far. I liked the thought of having a new car that no one else had. Everyone told me I had a cute car. I really liked the color too (light saphire blue). Being short, I liked the way the seats moved, the ride, the stereo, and especially the fold down back seats and trunk room. However, my feelings changed with the first streak of bad luck I had. A tree branch crushed the trunk of my car, insurance covered the repair, but I had to pay for a rental car. Okay, chalk that up to just dumb luck, but shortly after that, I got a recall notice. The notice says I need to call my dealer to set up an appointment. I do, and they tell me just to bring it in. In the mean time, I got four more recalls, all with in a month of each other. I called back to ask about the other recalls. They told me, again, just bring it in. Okay, good no problem. I bring it in, and you''d have thought I was contagious or something. I think I waited for 20 minutes before anyone even asked what I needed. I explained I had several recalls. They said sure we''ll get to it ASAP, but it probably won''t be ready for 2 or 3 days. Okay, but I''ve got to get to work somehow, so I asked if I they could give me loaner. They wouldn''t do it. I protested that, "I have to have the recall fixed or my warranty becomes invalid. The recalls are of no cost to me, fine, but this is a huge inconvenience! The point of buying a new car was to have reliable transportation because I have to drive a long distance to and from work. I don''t beieve that I should pay a dime, even for a rental car!" They still refused. I called the Ford Customer Service number and explained the problem. They did manage to get the dealer to pay for a rental, but I still had to pay for the insurance on the stupid thing. Following this, my car was in the shop to have the entire break system fixed. Then, I had trouble with the gas gauge not reading properly, and the radio turning off by itself ( because of a power surge I guess), my car stalls out from time to time, and sometimes has trouble starting. I''ve only had it for about 2 years, I bought it in Nov. 1999. All of this is supposedly normal???? I would not buy this car agian. Not until all these problems had been fixed. I would not reccommend this car to anyone. I realize that I should''

Well, I had this car four two years. I gone through all the recalls, it really depends on how you see the recall, and how the dealer treats you. The car has enough power to pash truck, but not screaming fast. Also it did give me one major problem, but i take full blame on it. Just the dealer was a jerk, but one call to Ford customer service hotline, and everything was straited out.
