Strength:

THIS CAR RUNS WELL TO BE AS OLD AS IT IS AND THE OUTER BODY IS PERFECT.

Weakness:

NEEDS SHOCKS OR STRUTS, INTERIOR ROOF IS PEELING, HOLDS HEAT, I THINK IT IS THE HOTTEST CAR TO RIDE IN IN THE SUMMER TIME

MY DAD WAS THE PREVIOUS AND ONLY OWNER OF THIS CAR. ITS BODY WAS PERFECT AND HAD GREAT POWER, WELL TO A 23 YEAR OLD FEMALE THAT IS ANY WAY.HE HAD THE CAR SINCE 89 AND HAVING ONE OWNER IS PROBALLY MOSTLIKELY THE ONLY REASON ITS RUNNING. I REPLACED THE WATERPUMP, AIR COMPRESSOR, FULE PUMP, AND THATS IT SO FAR

Weakness:

Dealership or My Ford customer service no help. Drive the car another 5K miles and the smell should go away (current miles 10,500). No concern expressed for the drivers health during that period. Have been experiencing numerous sore throats since April 2003.

Good car until cab filled completely with smoke from the heater defroster in April 2003. Couldn't really used the heater defroster afterwards, due to the smell. Tech Service Data Sheet report: Sulpher smell in cab, under load.

Model Reviewed: FORD Thunderbird 4.6L V8

Strength:

Great Power, Speed, and Acceleration!(w/ the 4.6L V8) Smooth ride, Beautiful design - inside and out! Sporty but luxurious! OK fuel economy for the power! not great but not terrible! If you want 40 miles per gallon then go buy a little "rice burner"!!! haha This car will blow them off the road! (most of them!) Reliable car!!! with a hitch added, this car will pull trailers with the trucks!(air shocks may also need to be added to get the back of the car high enough for the hitch of the trailer!)

Weakness:

cup holder being located right under your arm in the center console! Stock exhaust!( i have the Borla System made for the thunderbirds. it isnt too loud but gives the car a nice sound and better performance!) Transmission(only because its messing up on me. but has been driven hard since before I owned the car!) The engine smoking if left to idle and then revved! (car has ~130k miles on it and has been driven hard and left many black marks on the road!) :-P

I love this car! I am just getting a little frustrated with it due to some things starting to go wrong with it!.... The transmission is dropping metal into the pan. They look like pieces of a large, thin ring or band! The car is still driveable and isnt making any grinding noises but shifts late in first and shifts hard when it does eventually shift! Also I am feeling the vibration in the steering but am not sure whether it is the rotor or the tires out of balance! And as expected with most cars, the engine, left idling and then revved after a few minutes will give a good puff of blue smoke. It doesnt smoke at any other time though! I have also lost some power! I wonder now, after reading some reviews, if it isnt a head gasket! I thought it may be low compression since the car has about 130,000 miles on it! Any advise would be much appreciated! My email is nsureed@yahoo.com. Please only email me if you have any ideas on why the engine may be smoking and/or how much im lookin to spend to fix it! I dont want to get rid of the car! It is a great car and girls are very attracted to it for some reason!!! It is very sporty for a luxery car!

Model Reviewed: / Tbird 3.8L

Strength:

The car is reliable. It starts in the morning and I am confident that it will transport me to work and school everyday. However, that is the cars only strengths. Oh wait! I have two airbags, and there is good low end torque. I'm digging for good ones.

Weakness:

It is a shepard in a wolfs clothing! 146 horse!!!!! dear god. If it wasn't for the gobs of torque I swear I would kill myself. Passing at 55 is a teeth grinding experience, and you can forget about going any faster than 80 mph and taking even the slightest bend in the road. The lack of traction control is frightening, and sucidal for anyone not a guy, and over the age of 50. This has every problem that Car and Driver complaines about. Understeer, brake fade, body roll and absolutley no handeling. I have been reading the other reviews on here and can't believe that there is one good review from anyone who has driven a nicer car. Nice as in crappy nice like a altima or a celica. Not M3 nice! By the way the seats suck and the radio really sucks.

First off I was screwed on the car! I walked into the dealership as a young newly sober individual looking to start a new life. People from the "club" told me to go and see Tom Ladd who is the General Manger at this dealership, and that he would give me a good deal. He did a number on me(a few years later I sold cars myself and understood the magnitood of the screwing). LOL, had to get that out of my system. Aside from being previously wrecked, and lacking in everything that I should have gotten for 13000, leather, cd, sunroof, ABS, the car is at best OK.

Strength:

Powerful for an older car. can compete speed-wise with many newer cars of other makes. Handles well in all weather (even a Montana blizzard!)

Weakness:

Replaced front brakes at 86,000 miles. Replaced head gasket at around 90,000 miles, cost me $1,300. Replaced rear brakes at 91,000. Expensive to restore! Replaced headlight assembly @ $150. Corner lights at almost $200, and tail lights at more than $600.

I bought this car at 82,500 miles. it had one previous owner. it's been a pretty reliable vehicle, except for the head gasket. Since making a few restorations, i get some looks. nice looking car overall, with more than a little power.

Strength:

Excellent styling, solid body, roller lifter 302 V8, nice wheel base

Weakness:

3800+ lbs which makes it a lot of work making it a performance vehicle.

Great car. I bought this thunderbird specifically for the 302 V8 with plans to modify. Stock suspension and power is adequate. I really like the styling and am partial to thunderbirds so for that reason I purchased this vehicle.

Strength:

Love the smooth V-8 power (4.6) handles and rides well. front seats are comfortable and good dash design. Somewhat unique styling. great highway passing power. good trunk space.

Weakness:

stock stereo sucked. replaced with kenwood'pioneer system with amps and subwoofer. gas mileage merely ok. 17-18 city, over 20 on the highway. front end squeaks (my 88 mustang did the same thing.

I bought mine new in 1995. Has been trouble free other than routine maintenence (brakes, tires etc.) I plan on keeping it as long as I can.

Strength:

None what so ever

Weakness:

NO features for 40,000.00. They couldn't even fit in a locking gas cap. The visor are recycled for a 60's beetle but they were probably better. See why doesn't have dimming mirrors, you can't see out of them anyway. Power seats good fancy ones, they only go backwards and forward (wow). Radio can't say so noisy you wouldn't know if good or not. Drinks gas like crazy and the tiny motor requires prem for some reason. The dealers should love it for future repairs. Values are dropping like a rock in water. Since they can't seem to rid the market of 02 and here comes the 04's.

This car has been nothing but an expensive waste of money. It has less features then many base asian make car. Will probably get run over in the darn thing since you can see out of it what so ever unless the less the top is down. That top is stupidest design feature have ever seen. What do you do with a 100lb shell on a cart in the garage. Its just in the way. Only reason some must like it is cause people come up to talk. Well if they want a ear full just ask. Found can't do a thing with it except drive around, it has no room whatsoever.
