Strength:

Smooth ride, great headlights, plenty of room and great gas mileage, about 29.5 on the highway.

Weakness:

Really the only thing that I don't like about the car is that when using the cruise control the transmission doesn't like to shift back into overdrive after going up a hill. I might get it looked at.

Over all this is a great car. We were looking at getting a Elantra but we couldn't pass up the deal the dealer made us. I looked around for over 3 months before I finally decided to buy a Hyundai. I compared everything against it, even the Elantra which is actually the only thing that came close to it.

There's nothing that really compares to this car for the price. I have driven just about everything there is to drive. Hyundai has taken all of the great things of Toyota and Honda and put them into a great car and made it cheaper too.

Strength:

Syling, Price, Performance, Interior Spaciousness

Weakness:

Electronic Transmission sometimes slow to downshift

Bought Hail Damaged at a price below already unbelievable. Since fixed and wow, this is a nice car. Rear Spoiler, Aluminum Wheels, Power Moon Roof, 100 watt stereo, 4 cylinder mileage and performance better than my '90 Accord, surprisingly roomy inside. I'm 6'4 300lbs and I fit in the drivers seat with room to spare, width and height!

I get compliments constantly on the looks, and who would have thought a car at this price can turn heads, but it does! People guess I paid $25K knowing it had hail on it! Sticker was $18,000 before my discounts.

The ride is unbelievable, so smooth! I compared this car to the latest Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima, Honda Accord, and Mitsubishi galant. I drove them all, and the Sonata won. I had to take an extra day to make up my mind because I was afraid the price made this deal too good to be true. The price was half what I would have had to pay for those others. Well, I took a chance, and the first 3000 miles have been perfect. I've read reviews comparing the ride to a Lexus, which I've never been in and couldn't say that is true, but seriously, drive one and you will be amazed there is a manufacturer making a nice car at a reasonable price. This is the real deal - a classic case of someone building the better mousetrap.

The warranty is there as well, best in its class, 10 years. Includes Roadside assistance for 5. The Hyundia slogan is "driving is believing" which couldn't be more true. If you don't drive this car, you could be accused of wasting your money. Its true the older Hyundai models had problems, but Hyundai is one to learn from mistakes. With that warranty, they have to or they would be bankrupt. Simply reading reviews from the Earlier 90's through the 2000 model, its reassuring to see how the company has addressed concerns.

A simple recent example that comes to mind is the warning chime for headlights left on. People complained it is missing in 2000, it is standard in 2001 with 1 better, the lights turn themselves off with the key!

Do the research, there is a reason sales are up a steady 30+ percent several months running. This at a time when other manufacturers are feeling the pinch of a slowing economy.

Strength:

Affordable, until it is in the shop and your warranty runs out.

Weakness:

The parts to these cars are expensive. Something happened when Wilke Tires did a brake job on the back brakes and they messed up a part. Well, they did not want to claim responsibility, but had a part welded instead of buying a new part which would have cost 500. dollars/ Even though it was their fault just imagine a simple part would cost that much. To do a simple tune up cost 400.dollars because they want to replace the water pump which also cost about157.dollars while they have it apart. Because if they ever had to replace it if it broke the labor is expensive because it is hard to do.

This car was affordable. Looked and ran well. Deceiving. Now the warranties are better. Maybe they have imporved the vehicle.
