Strength:
Cheap
Weakness:
Cheap. We baught the car and within the first 4 mounths they have had to replace the roaters, rear cylenders, tiers, and the batery. I haven't even had a second oil change yet. Luck have it that the dealership has not charged me a penney for any of the repairs so far. Machanics don't know how to fix or find problems in first visit. I took the car in for poor breaks( they were skipping, or not working at all), and they replaced the roaters. The car started leaking break fluid. I took the car back in a week later. I was then told that the rear cylenders needed to be replaced and that the car was unsafe to drive!!!! I had been driving around for a week with my 1 1/2 mounth old baby in the car!!!!! Kia sucks. I would not recoment this car to anyone who wants safty on the raod. If you like putting you and your passengers in danger then this is the car for you. If you want to spend more time in the shop then driving, then Kia is what you are looking for. I will never own another Kia again. I am fighting with Kia right now to buy back the car. Similar Products Used: 1995 Hyundai, has more power, stops, runs quieter, over all much better value then Kia. |

Kia Sephia LS
Strength:
Nice headroom, good interior space up front, better quality interior parts than most compact cars in its class. Exterior is pleasant. Ride is fair, handling is very good despite the much maligned Hankook tires. For the money, a good local commute. Also, my service is done by the sister Acura dealer, and I get lifetime free car washes ($20/mo as I figure it). Brakes are now from same suppliers as Honda and Toyotas (I'm told). Feel solid and not the nightmares I've read about from older models.
Weakness:
So-so response out of the automatic. When tires are properly inflated theres a lot of tire noise (dealer inflates the lot cars at 24 lbs to quiet them and soften ride and noise, instead of 32-35). Paid $10,500 with air and A/T for an end of year (2000) model. Have owned many cars over the years from cheap econocars to ZX Turbo. For the money it's better than I had anticipated. Bought it as a replacement for my wifes high mileage 94 Chrysler. Wanted the 5 yr/60000 warranty and good mileage/low insurance value. As far as that goes I'd say it's been a great deal. My 97 Nissan 200SX was perhaps a little more solid bodywise but didn't handle as well, was slower and cost more 3 years ago. I'd recommend it for local commuting. Cruises at 70 just fine but seats are only comfortable for shorter trips. Similar Products Used: 1997 200SX(sentra). Sephia is comparable at far less $$. |

The Radio and CD player work!!
Weakness:
Everything. In that time I have had the car (17,000 miles) I have had the folling done, a new transmission, glovebox, center console, weather stripping for passenger side door that never gets opened, new break pads, new rotors, 2 new batteries, and countless trips to the service for check engine light that they claim nothing was wrong. I would NEVER recommend this car to anyone. It is an all aroung bad choice to buy a kia. It is a bad car. The service is awful. It makes loud noises while you drive. When your driving it seems like it is going to fall apart. It would be a blessing if you buy a kia and it blows up or catches on fire before you get a chance to drive it anywhere. At least then you wouldn't have to deal with all the problems it will no doubt give you. BOTTOM LINE IS DON'T BUY A KIA!! Similar Products Used: I wouldn't want to put any other car make and model down to even try to compare it. |

Weakness:
BRAKES!!!!! Air Conditioner, Lock on gear shift, molding around windshield coming off, sluggish on take off, takes awhile to shift out of first geartrunk light only works when it feels like it, gas miles is not good. I do not recommend this car to anyone. I recently got into two rearend collisions within one week. The brakes on the car did not work. I felt like I had no brakes at all. I had the brakes already fixed twice before the car was 3 months old. Now the long process of fighting Kia to replace my car. I refuse to drive a car that you can not stop, expecially with kids in the car. The air conditioner was taken in twice and the third time I was told there is nothing wrong with it. I guess the normal sound is supposed to squeal. I feel like I am forever putting gas in the thing. The molding around the windshield came flying off when I was on the highway. There are alot of unexplained noises on the car. The car vibrates over 65 mph. I really do not have anything nice to say about the car. I have lost vacation time at work for having to bring the car in for service all the time. I do not recommed buying one unless you like accidents and headeaches. Strength:
Manuals, you can feel the horsepower compared to the auto.
Weakness:
Poor Sound System. Well you get what you pay for when you buy Kia. Similar Products Used: It doesn't compare to anything. It has no quality. I'd rather buy a 89 Buick Century. It would probably be more reliable. |

Kia Sephia
Strength:
Fit and finish, smooth ride, Awesome price, quiet, Pretty to look at, warranty , Manual Transmission!, lifetime oil changes from my dealer for free, must I say more?? :-)
Weakness:
Wish it had a bit more power, but it is adequate. Automatic version just doesn't have the zip the manual has. Could be more fuel efficient, but it does pretty well for it's size. Got the upgrade interior with split fold rear seats, floor mats, etc. power steering, CD player, A/C and rear spoiler, I paid $11,100. I also got a lifetime oil change from my dealer...a nice little bonus. Darn right I would reccomend it. I know some of the earlier models were bad in some areas, but the 2000 models are pretty decent considering all the pros and cons. Similar Products Used: Hyundai Elantra for a while, but got rid of it. It was junk. The Kia is a big improvement. |

Kia Sephia LS
Strength:
The Sephia is very affordable, and a pretty great car for the price. I have the 5-sp, so the acceleration is very good. It pulls strong all the way to its 115mph governor. The stye is alright, although I like the change in 98.
Weakness:
The gas mileage isn't as good as my Saturn or my girlfriend's Civic. Most people hate the breaks, but they have yet to give me any problems. The exterior door trim is changing colors and starting to rust. Paint if very thin and chips easily. I paid about $12K for the car. The car is great for the price, but don't look for a decent resale value. I'm hoping to sell my Kia soon, but I still owe $2000 more than its bluebook value. The ride is softer than my Saturn, so more comfortable for just riding around and on trip. No cruise control on mine though. If you're going to buy one, get the extended warranty, and I hope you plan on keeping it for a long time. That's the only way you'll get your money out of it. I'm selling mine because I don't like having two car payments. Similar Products Used: Saturn SC2, Honda Civic. Both cars are far better, but of course cost more. |

Sephia RS
Strength:
It's cheap, good on gas and it has not failed me yet.
Weakness:
It has no power. Try taking four people up hill and it gets scary! Plus, the brakes make a lot of noise. This car is simplistic and that's all you get. The basics at a afordable price. it would make a good first car for the younger driver. You'll find though you'll want to quickly move on to something with a little more power and class. Its silver........................im done.
Weakness:
first of all its a kia! I only paid 1,100 dollars more for a brand new civic. people, please stay away from these types of car companies i.e.(kia,hyundai,daewoo)you know the ones with the stupid names and million mile service guarentees. You know what? Honda doesnt have one of those because it doesnt need one of them! Honda is an awsome car company for a reason. You get what you pay for and even though hondas are a little more(trust me,not by much)how much is peace of mind worth..........? R-e-l-a-b-i-l-i-t-y does not equal k-i-a in any way. there are people who paid more for their kias than I paid for my 2000 honda civic!!! Similar Products Used: I just bought a silver honda. The kia just cant compare! |

Strength:
The price, very affordable at first. Good trunk space. economical.
Weakness:
Not too much horsepower and THE BRAKES. Totally the worst quality I have ever seen in my life. I've had to replace the discs and pads at least once or twice a year since 1997. The dashboard is burning up and falling down, it burns oil and it only has 60,000 miles, it leaks brake fluid and have to refill the master cylinder every 3 months. Could have done a better job with the interior carpet. I would recommend this car only for a short ownership. You will pay a good price at first, but get rid of it before your warranty runs out or you'll be stuck with a big repair bill. Similar Products Used: Ford escort, Chevrolet Cavalier. Cannot compare in quality to either one, only in price. |
