Strength:

Gas mileage, looks, great package for the price

Weakness:

High clutch pedal took a few days to get used to, but otherwise, no complaints.

After researching all others this size (Corolla, Sentra etc), nothing could beat this car on price, package and warranty. I bought this Mazda about 2 weeks ago and it has been nothing but great gas mileage, nice ride, more than enough power and loads of compliments on the exterior.

Strength:

Quality: both interior and exterior, performance: both acceleration and handling, milage, options, style: interior and exterior.

Weakness:

As a huge car guy, this car excedes all of my needs and expectations for a car of this price range and cars of a higher price bracket.

I was in the market for a new car. For the price I was willing to spend and the prerequisites I wanted I didn't think I would find a car that would fulfill all my needs and wants. After a tip from a friend, I took a new Mazda 3 out for a test drive. I did some quick research, located a car with the options I wanted and that week I purchased my first new black on black Mazda 3 and I could not be happier. I attribute much of the quality to the fact that this new Mazda is based off of the new Volvo S40 V40 platform (think safety and quality wrapped in a stylish package with excellent performance).

Strength:

It looks great, painstakingly designed, well priced and very practical for a small hatch. Apparantly it's quite good fun to drive too!

Weakness:

Slightly flaky interior build quality, it's not going to stand up to a barrage of 5 year olds ribena and rusk biscuits...

Ok, so I havn't driven this car since I'm only 16. But having been driven one I can draw several conclusions. Firstly, since 2000 Mazda has been undergoing a sort of design 'Rennaisance' since the Mazda 6 and RX 8 Mazda has released some of the most beautiful automobiles this side of a Mercedes SL and make no mistake the Mazda 3 is no exception. This is one of the best looking small hatches on the market at the moment. From the headlights to the brakelights, every part of the car has been painstakingly designed to perfection. For such a low priced hatchback this is superb although the distinct looks won't please everyone. The other advantages include the large amount of space available, plenty of leg room for passengers and a boot big enough to take a fair bit of luggage. Lastly, the highly competitive pricing make this the first choice in the small hatch market at the moment. The only other car in it's league is possibly the Honda Jazz since they both vaguely ressemble something out of the 'Blade Runner' films in terms of design. Still if your looking for something with a bit of sparkle and don't want to make a no-brainers choice and opt for a Ford Fiesta or something get a Mazda 3 and you won't be dissapointed!

Strength:

Style, nice interior, good power for a compact sedan. Stability at 80 mph is great. Value for the price paid.

Weakness:

I was expecting more pickup power for a car having 148hp.

The car is great, beats Corolla, Lancer and Sentra. It has style, power and handling. It is a little slow at low revs, but after 15 mph it is fast.

Strength:

A tight package with clean lines, powerful (for the class) and efficient, great looking 17" rims, and nimble handling.

Wow, went to my local Mazda dealership and took out a Mazda 3 out for a test drive. I was absolutely amazed to say the least after a 20 min test drive. What an incredible little package. In terms of value, I think this new Mazda demolishes the competition. Awesome ride and handling (a little on the firm side but that's how I like it), superior fit and finish (assembled in Japan I believe) in a pretty package. It looks like they got all of the little details right. The car reviewers were bang on with their reviews/praise and I couldn't agree more.
